Japan is really strict with food (ex. Meat products, fresh fruit/vegetables, other non-processed things) and agriculture imports - both because of the non-native species issue and also because they want to prevent the introduction of pests/diseases. Boyfriend's venison jerkey got confiscated once because the US (or maybe specifically Texas) has had cases of CWD in deer.

yep. Most countries are. That is part of the customs declaration form coming back into the US. Non-native species is serious business and there are countless examples here in the US that are terrorizing ecosystems. Zebra muscles are a big one.

Then you just bring in Chinese needle snakes to take care of that problem. And then you bring in a species of gorilla that dines on snakes. When winter comes around, the gorillas simply freeze to death.

OK. I'm finally getting around to posting my pics from the gifts I received from Texas Rebel. The first box arrived with gifts labeled 1/3 and 3/3 so I knew there was another great surprise coming.



I opened it to find a 26oz flask in the shape of a barrel in item 1/3, but didn't manage to take a pic of that one, but it does creep in on the right side of the pic below.

Item 3/3 was a most excellent cookbook which helps answer one of life's most important questions:



Item 2/3 arrived the next day, along with a separate letter containing detailed instructions on what to do:







As you can see, I know have the makings of a barrel of lube!!

I'll keep the contents of the letter separate for now, but if the instructions are followed it should start making the rounds and extending the fun of the gift exchange.

I don't think we're gonna have any flakes, after all. A few people are waiting for gifts due to late starts or shipping problems, but I think all are accounted for. I'll double check tonight. If you haven't had any contact from your Santa, holler!

In fact, hoping to get my gift when I get home in a few hours. My Santa has kept me in the loop so no worries on that front!
