The meat market in Giddings serves the worst brisket I've ever eaten. A McRib is better BBQ than that.

Is Good Bull BBQ actually good or does everyone like it because a Yell Leader runs it?
100% the latter. Worst in town

Toms bbq. Not even sure what people are remembering about that place. Not even average.
How old are you? The "old" Tom's that used to be on Texas Ave. was outstanding....just a shack, as I remember it...

I'm no fan of Dickie's but I will say this: My office had it catered a couple years back at the holidays and they had a smoked honey ham that was out-freaking standing.

Rudy's literally advertises themselves as the worst and they are a BBQ joint that is liked best for their creamed corn. That should tell you something.
Far from a true statement. The ORIGINAL off Ralph Fair Rd in San Antonio is excellent. You know how when you make a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy and it just fades out? That's Rudy's.

I've eaten at that one, the one by Sea World, and the one by Retama. Not impressed. I'd rather go to Bill Miller. At least they don't fake being more than fast food.

The original Tom's on Texas Avenue was awesome!
They had a bad fly problem on top of it.

I don't remember there being an original Tom's on Texas Avenue. The one I remember was next to Chicken Oil where J Cody's is. Second location opened on Texas Avenue cattycorner from where HEB is now.

When they finally shut down, the owners just locked the door and walked away. The coolers were full of meat, and there was still a Crock-Pot of BBQ sauce on the counter. Power got shut off. A realtor took a prospective buyer by the place and learned the hard way about the stench of rotting food. There was an article in The Eagle about it.

Tom's BBQ was my first time eating "real" barbeque.

Growing up, barbeque meant chicken or ribs that have been slathered with bbq sauce and cooked on the charcoal grill. Some say that was probably better than Tom's but it's not like I knew any better.
