I'd rather eat at Dickies than Bill Miller's.

Worst bbq I've ever tried was some roadside joint on OSR just outside of Madisonville. Made Dickies seem legit.

Kreuz was a close second.

If talking chains then Dickies wins by a mile for worst BBQ. Worse than Bill Miller's. Probably worse than Applebees riblets.

agree, it is good enough when you have an itch and good enough will do.


I feel kinda the same about Bill Miller's. If I'm in the mood for bbq, it's pretty far down the list. Ok, it's not even on the list.

If I'm on the road, need a quick, cheap meal, and one is handy, it's perfectly fine.

Got a craving for Rudy's after an a&m game so we stopped at south side in Elgin in the way back to Austin. It didn't even meet Rudy's expectations it was so awful

Bill Miller's bbq is the suck. But......their fried chicken and breakfast tacos are legit. Haven't had bbq there in 20 years but other stuff once every few months.

Tom's in the 1980s was pretty good. They sold out to someone in the 1990s that wanted to turn it into a chain. I think this guy knew nothing about BBQ or the restaurant biz. 1990s Toms was truly awful.

I only knew 1990's era Tom's. Definitely coasted on Aggie loyalty and lack of competition. But on the plus side, the servers' attitudes usually matched the quality of the food.

Dyer's BBQ in Pampa.

Their brisket comes out in 1"-2" cubes that has been stewing in a crock pot of its own filth.

Both the Elgin BBQ places haven't impressed me at all. Of the two, I prefer Myers over south side, but I think they are both average at best.

Always went to south side for the sausage more than anything. Sorry it has gone downhill, haven't been in years

Gonna get a lot of ***t for this, but Pinkerton's BBQ in Houston. This is based on the taste, price, and being over-hyped as hell.

It was ok BBQ, but based on those 3 things I listed, it's the worst I've had.

By definition, that makes Rudy's pretty good. But because it's the yardstick, people may put it next to those on the fouler side.

On topic - my vote is Dickey's.


Same here. I peg Rudys at about an 80. It's good but could be a lot better. Anything less than Rudys isn't worth my time

Went to the Bryan location the weekend they opened.

It was, hands down, the worst BBQ I've ever had. Just God-awful. I could find better BBQ in the frozen section of Kroger. Never went back so it may have gotten at least edible since then.

There are never any cars in the parking lot, so there's that.
