I've never eaten Bill Miller's BBQ but my parents buy their stuffing for Thanksgiving every year. It's actually really pretty good IMHO.

Is Good Bull BBQ actually good or does everyone like it because a Yell Leader runs it?
I thought it was pretty meh. I had the brisket, pork ribs, and short rib. The brisket was dry, the short rib was very salty (but cooked ok), and the pork ribs were lacking any flavor.

That said, I would still eat it every day over Dickey's.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the world's worst BBQ is probably not in Texas.

Spring Creek BBQ. Even those hot fresh rolls they pass around have zero flavor.

Rudy's literally advertises themselves as the worst and they are a BBQ joint that is liked best for their creamed corn. That should tell you something.

Never understood the hate for Rudy's. It's not great but it's fine.
Plus the breakfast tacos are totally legit

Apparently when Spring Creek caters, it's not that bad-but overall I agree, Spring Creek is the worst I've had.

I stopped at a place called Lum's BBQ in Junction when I was passing through a few months ago and $18 got me the worst BBQ plate I've ever tasted. Somehow it had great reviews online.

That brisket looks horrendous. Whoever cooked that has no business selling bbq for money.

On that note, here is my submission: Rattlesnake BBQ in Dexter, Oregon. Worst excuse for BBQ I've ever had.

The brisket came out shredded and drier than a popcorn fart. A buddy of mine knew the owner and they asked me how that compared with Texas BBQ...he didn't like it when I gave him honest feedback but hell he asked for it by selling me that crap.

Oh and I'm pretty sure they closed for good. Nice guys but terrible food.

I ate at The Shed bbq in Mississippi yesterday. That place is a dump and really low quality bbq. We could not figure out what the flavor of the sauce they poured on everything tasted like. My youngest say it tasted like bean sauce. He may not be wrong.

Bill Millers boils briskets, injects them with a solution containing liquid smoke, then finishes them off with some TLC on the pit for a couple hours.

Most of y'all are talking about average or below-average barbecue.

I've had bad barbecue and beyond awful barbecue.

It's a three way tie between the worst I've ever had. Unfortunately, I only have a picture of one:

Lazy H Smokehouse - Kirbyville - I went because a customer said she'd heard it was the best in the area (~7 years ago??) The lights were off when I walked up to the door at noon. So I turned around. Someone came out of the front door and said that they were open, they just keep the power off between customers to save money. She shouted to the back room to turn the power back on. Old, stale microwaved meat.

Yo Mama's Barbecue - Montgomery - Food came out crackling hot. It was another case of reheated meat from yesterday or beyond. Eating it fresh probably wouldn't have helped...

King's Kitchen - Conroe - There's a phenomenon in East Texas where some churches also sell lunch. There's a restaurant (fellowship hall?) that sits next to a church in Conroe. People rave about this place and after passing by it and the "BBQ" flags outside of it for years, I finally decided to stop. This is the one that I have a picture for, so I'll let it do the talking.

Just so you know, you're looking at brisket & ribs. Yes, that is "smoked brisket"...

I ate at a place just outside of Mexia and the food looked just like that. It taste like they boiled the meat and forgot to add liquid smoke . I couldn't figure out why the place was packed. Guess cause the food was cheap.

Got a craving for Rudy's after an a&m game so we stopped at south side in Elgin in the way back to Austin. It didn't even meet Rudy's expectations it was so awful
Sad if true, back when i was kid i'd go there with my dad before aggie games and the sausage wraps were great along with other stuff. It's been over 10 years so it definitely could have gone down hill.

The description of Rudy's being the good/bad bar of bbq was also the realest description of their food/bbq rating i've ever seen.

Whoa whoa whoa. You've lost your mind. It's not traditional Texas Barbecue, but they do some good eats out there. I love taking people there and no one has ever complained to me.

What'd you order?

I would have liked to have tried a couple of meats; but the only way to have more than one meat is to order two meals or order the family feast thing for $80 or so. You can't order a two meat plate and the only meat sold by itself is the sliced brisket.

So, I ordered a half pound of brisket. The brisket was VERY dry and had the consistency of moist cardboard. So it was $10 for a half pound of some the toughest brisket I have had at a BBQ joint...that's with no sides, but not a big deal for decent brisket. I asked if it came with any onions and pickles....waitress said yes. I asked if there was a charge for onions and pickles...waitress said "no, it's included." Get the check and she charged me $1.00 for four round slices of pickles plus $.50 for a tablespoon of chopped onions.

Wife orders the chopped brisket sandwich or $10/$11...can't remember which. She takes two bites and can't eat the rest. I look at her like she's crazy and take a bite.....and quickly spit it out into my napkin. Tasted like the chef had filled the chopped beef with five ounces of French's mustard....just terrible.

To add injury to insult....very limited air conditioning on a hot day and iced tea plastic cups hold about eight ounces. Not a big deal....but bothersome when the food is so terrible.

Had been reading about the place for a couple of years and made a special point to visit yesterday before going to the Amon Carter and the cutting first go at WRC.

Will not return. FYI.....no normal person would ever complain about the food a host/friend is excited about taking them to. Glad you like it and hope you never have a similar experience there.

Worst local experience was Carl's in Cypress. They literally used an ice cream scoop to place a ball of gelatinous chopped beef on my plate, and that **** held its shape.

Well that's not true. I've gotten multiple meats every time I've been there. You can order brisket by the quarter pound. Add on some ribs, sausage, tamales, tacos, smoked hummus. Whatever.

They really excel at the non-traditional stuff IMO. It's certainly not the best brisket, but it's never been bad on my trips. And yeah, it costs a bit more than most places - you're paying for the vibe. This is "fancy barbecue."

And come on man, don't let your lady order a chopped beef sandwich. Especially at a place like this - their menu is ridiculous!

Welp....you must be special. Because I asked the waitress very specifically if I could order more than one meat and she said I would either have to order two plates or the jumbo family package. I then said I can't get brisket and ribs or plus ribs or brisket and sausage or plus sausage. She said you can order the brisket by the pound but you have to get a rib plate plus another meat plate to get two kinds of meat. Very bizarre.....

Oh...and my lady is not from Texas and always gets chopped brisket wherever we go...that's her BBQ thing. If they can't make a decent chopped brisket sandwich then they need to not use the word BBQ anywhere in their marketing.

I are there Thursday before last and thought their food was good. Of course, we were on a vendor tab, so I was pretty liquored up before the four platters of meat showed up. I didn't care for the outdoor thing with it being ~108, but it was free for me so I enjoyed myself.

I got a 2 meat plate (sliced brisket & some rattlesnake sausage that was on daily special) about 5 months ago. Sausage was dry but brisket was great. Also had the most garlicky potato salad I've ever eaten. Solid A-, would buy again.

Far from a true statement. The ORIGINAL off Ralph Fair Rd in San Antonio is excellent. You know how when you make a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy and it just fades out? That's Rudy's.
