Other places in the south farther to the west got rain, not us.

If you're staying downtown you should hit up Kudu or any number of actual local places away from the main tourist areas. Think King Street north of the park or farther up from there.

Dudley's on Ann would also be a good choice.

It was great. People in Kyiv are very friendly to Americans despite the language barrier still being pretty hard to overcome, but if you have a Russian/Ukrainian translator it would be a lot better.

The tours that go into the exclusion zone are run by a few different operators, and they all launch from Kyiv. However, what makes a difference is taking a multi-day tour as then you can explore more secluded areas and places like the DUGA radar in more depth. You stay in Chernobyl town which is where a lot of current workers stay since it's not in the 10km zone.

If anyone is interested in going, I recommend these guys as they have knowledgeable staff that can tell you a lot more things than just where to take photos.
