I flew AA back from Europe yesterday. Actually had to pay for booze if beer or wine wasnt ordered. Had one FA that had to have been on drugs, no kidding. She couldnt remember what she gave to whom in regard to drinks, snacks or meals. She was horrible. Seats were too small with not enough leg room. Sucked.

US carriers receive no government subsidies. Americans will click on the lowest fare available while surfing Kayak for the cheap fares, guess what that gets you? There are age discrimination laws that protect older employees, not so much with foreign carriers. All in all, pretty simple.

If they were doing drugs they will be fired sooner or later. Flight crews are randomly drug tested.

when the hell did United start charging extra to carry on a bag with an economy fair? Oh, want to go somewhere for more than 24-hours and actually bring a few pieces of extra clothing, that will be $25 per direction for checked bags...or you can chose "economy plus" for an extra $50.

American and Delta and United all offer "basic economy" now to compete with Spirit and Frontier. They know cheap asses will click on the cheapest flight. Then the hope is the customer will realize how bad that sucks and buy the normal fare.

If you carry a United card, you get priority boarding and one checked bag for free.

I've been on a lot of ****ty domestic flights in other countries all over Asia. The one major difference is the flight attendants are all really polite and helpful. With domestic US most of them are polite, but there are enough with attitudes that it's not uncommon for ****ty flight attendants to make a flight ****ty.

I bet if they had to deal with Americans more their attitudes would get worse.

United and American gotta do something about aging out all these crusty curmudgeon ******* assigned to the trans-pacific fights.

As best I can tell, these **** worked their whole 35 year career to get on this primo route and they ain't about to give it up. Most of these sky waitresses should have retired at least a decade ago, some two.

The non-us carriers don't put up with this BS.

Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, Air China, Emirates, Singapore, Air NZ, Quantas and Condor all have flight crews hitting that sweet spot around 24 and 34. After that, they are put out to pasture and rightly so. But some *******-how these US based flight crews got the stamina of a tortoise.

With a union job for 30+ years, why the F are these folks still at it. They obviously hate their jobs. They probably stay holed up in Shanghai or wherever their layover is watching golden girls and drinking herba-life shakes.

The funny thing is, these ******* know that they got you on lockdown. They can get you thrown off the flight for any off kilter comment and there ain't a damn thing you can do.

As has been stated many times on here, they are protected by law. You can't fire a flight attendant because she's old or unattractive. As for why many choose to work till they drop dead, the answer is easy. Health insurance.

Day two of our return trip from California, United had delays coming out of the regional airport that dominoed the rest of our connections. Aside from one customer service rep that made it rain with meal vouchers in San Fran, the rest of their staff has been just helpful enough to keep us from throwing adult hissy fits, but just barely.

Yeah, I hear you. You know they protected. I know they are protected. They know they are protected. Thats why we are here.
