New Mexico Pinon

Rio Grande Roasters also makes a good pinon coffee. I think I like it just a little bit more than I like New Mexico Pinon.

I need to get one or the other, as I'm out.

I'll have to try that. Been ordering New Mexico for a few years. Time to try something new. Thanks.

Can't believe this was mentioned. I have a collection of empty cans. The best place to imbibe is of course in the mountains of NM but you can get it at Trader Joe's any time.

The Rio Grande Roasters is good too.

If you're not buying whole bean coffee and grinding it yourself just before preparing, you're not doing it right. Buying higher quality ground coffee doesn't do the trick, neither does buying whole bean coffee and grinding it in store. The whole point is the beans should be ground as close as possible to consumption for freshness. That's the most basic concept of coffee drinking.

If you find yourself in Taos, Michael's Kitchen makes a mean cup of pinon coffee.

Good! Someone mentioned Orlando's the other other day and it made me want green chili and pozole.

Just over 2 weeks until I'm back in Taos!

When I open that link, I feel like a guy from the middle ages looking at the space shuttle. What in the **** is that thing and how do you get coffee out of it?

EDIT: just watched a YouTube video about it. That is the most hipster bull**** I've ever seen. {Laugh/cry}

This is true but only because it would mean that you are living in the coffee belt.

Uhmmm I fully have to disagree with you about your statement. Michael's kitchen serves breakfast/lunch & supper. I was just there less than a year ago. And yes they do serve other things than Mexican food but Mexican food is there staple menu. The stuffed sopapilla with red and green chili sauce is the best dish in town. You must not know about Michaels.

They do still serve dinner and the stuffed sopapilla with red chile sauce is the best.

They are only open for dinner on weekends. They are open until 2ish I think during the week. And I'm pretty sure their hours in the summer roll back to breakfast/brunch only.

A few years ago, they started serving lunch/dinner, but they are still primarily a breakfast/brunch place. It's like saying IHOP is a burger joint. No, IHOP is a breakfast restaurant that happens to serve burgers and a few other items. Much like Michael's is a breakfast joint that has begun serving other food at later hours, but breakfast is still served all day.

I would disagree about the Mexican food. Michael's has good food, but there is better Mexican/New Mexican food in Taos. Yes, the stuffed sopapillas are good, but I wouldn't say the best dish in town. If you think that, you have not experienced all that Taos has to offer. Mexican food has never been their "staple menu", as they have primarily been a breakfast joint. In fact, it was a bakery and coffee shop.

The last time I went there was almost twenty years ago so they've been serving dinner at least that long.
