She got big cans?

Met her in the late '90's. She was a fat red head from what I remember.

So yes but just different kinds of cans, ie cans of Crisco

Hey now, let's not skip over the most important part of this thread.

I loved Shakey's growing up. Last one I went to was in Tokyo a long time ago. I thought they went the way of the dodo.

Going to Shakey's was the highlight of our trips to "town" growing up 2.5 hours west of San Angelo.

I love San Angelo and would love to live there if I could make a living there in my field. It's a great town with some even better towns surrounding it.

Lake Spence has water in it again? That thing was dried up for years.

Lake Ivey is also nearby.

Shakey's is still a thing in a few communities in SoCal.

When I was in the National Guard in the 90s, word on the street was that the weekend gay scene in Angelo was pretty hopping with Closeted Austinites in town for the weekend.

Growing up in San Angelo in the 90's and 00's was grueling. They've really come a long way in the last decade. I've gotten to the point where I can go back and stay at least three days in a row at this point.

Am I crazy or did shakeys have good fried chicken. It's been like 30 years since I've been to one so my memory might be off.

it's a whole different town than what we grew up in. i left early 2000's but that place took a turn for the better around 2012 i guess. they have a lot of good development.

It all depends on perspective. If you are moving from Pecos or Hobbs, then visiting or moving to San Angelo is a paradise. If you are moving there or visiting from West Austin, Boerne or Fredericksburg, then you might feel you are in purgatory.

It was Infinity before that. Some local church tried to seemingly shun the club by putting a billboard next to it that said, "Jesus goes to infinity, and beyond". It was a pretty failed attempt on their part.

i wish i could remember what church that was.

i used to run a bit around the river and that area. sometimes running by and seeing the girls walking in there in full sunlight helped me to stay baptist.

So did I. I went there right as the oil business was slowing down a couple years ago. It was pretty bad. A couple rough necks throwing dollars at the only decent looking girl. She was all tatted up and looked like she was gunning for that oil field wife money. 2-3 ok looking girls walking around, and one girl that probably went 175 up on stage shaking all that God and Budweiser gave her. We didn't stay long.

what's crazy about that is that you'd think San Angelo would have better talent than that. it's a decent sized town.

there were tons of hot college age chicks when i was there. does the twin peaks suck as well?

Never been. Always stayed downtown and went over to cork and pig. Desirees was on a Saturday after a wedding just south of town and was on the way back downtown.

It's small enough a town that if a college girl started working at Desiree's all of ASU would find out and be there the next day..

Keeps the talent level down at Twin Peaks too

I can't help with the Shakey's pizza, but the Mojo potatoes you can still get across the street from where it used to be. It's at Roosters and they call them *cough* Ro-Jo potatoes *cough* . I'm guessing they got the recipe, because they taste the same...in all their artery clogging glory.

I may have gone there when back in town and devoured an entire order in 1 minute

I think I'm going to be in San Angelo this weekend. San Angelo is a nice town, but I basically just hang out with my parents at their house, go to the gym and maybe go shopping or out to eat at my favorite restaurants.

I've heard downtown has some night life now, but I really wouldn't know. Going to a bar just isn't something I'd be interested in doing in San Angelo.

And they were definitely called rojos. Lots of great memories at Shakey's.

It's actually a lot of fun Jamo. Now that all my former baptist friends drink, we've had a lot of fun nights when I come back for the holidays.
