Losing my dad. From the moment he had his stroke, was admitted to the hospital, Pulling the plug, funeral. Almost a year later and I still cry thinking about those dreadful two weeks
Similar.

Him passing was relief. The 4 mos. of lung cancer is a time I want to forget, but know I can't.

I'm 14 and my mother and father are fighting again. Because she caught him again. This time the girl drove by the house to pick him up. And I finally realized, he wasn't just cheating on my mother, he was cheating on us. So I told him, I said, "You're bad to us. We don't love you. I'll take care of my mother and my sister. We don't need you any more." And he made like he was gonna hit me, but I didn't budge. And he turned around and he left. He never bothered us again. Well, I took care of my mother and my sister from that day on.

So that was your best day. What was your worst day?

Dammit. Truly heartbreaking stuff. God bless you all for fighting through this stuff; I hope I will be able to carry on when I really get put to the test like y'all have.

I watched my 3 yr old son die in a terrible accident. My other two children and wife were also there. There are no words to describe that pain, for my son dying and with us seeing it. Watching my wife suffer that pain as his Mom and watching his brothers, mainly the 7 yr old, process this and grieve is almost insurmountable.

My God. I am so very sorry.

I don't know any of y'all (at least I don't think I do), but I wish you all only the best. You are strong folks. Hang in there and life will be fulfilling.

2003 so it's been awhile...wife and i married 6 months...her mom's mother passed july 4th, we had funeral on the 7th, since we were back home i went to see my dying granddad in the hospital since i thought he would be next...well 2 days later my mom's best friend called me at work to tell me my mom passed away with a brain aneurysm due to a cancer drug. Mom never told my brother and I how bad her condition was, and I had a ton of regret for not seeing her instead of my granddad that day. My grandfather passed on the 18th after a long illness. So in 9 days i lost the 2 people that had the biggest influences on me growing up. Then, as things were getting back to normal, in late August a high school friend and my senior prom date passed away due to a sudden illness that was never diagnosed.
So yeah, that was a tough summer. It did bond my wife and I even more.
I hope those of you with more recent and ongoing events can come to know things can and will get better.

I am so sorry. Losing your child is hell. My 19 month old daughter was diagnosed with an incurable degenerative disease. I can't do anything but watch her waste away every day.

We had just bought a house and life was looking great. Takes just one day for the sky to fall.

The end of last year was probably one of my lowest. Wife wanted divorce, I didn't have a job, dad dying, cawk pump broke. It pretty much sucked.

Mine was a worst day and best day at the same time. This time last year. I got a phone call from my father. I had not spoken to him but a couple times in 30 years since my parents spout. I was 3 when they split and for years had a yearning to ask him why he left. Having boys myself brought those old feelings back and I tried to reach out again. Anyway he called out of the blue and told me he wanted nothing to do with me and when he left my mom he left me too. It really hit me hard to hear that because I could not comprehend how someone would just leave their son. Weird thing is that it actually gave me closure over 30 years of pain. I was able to move on and have been so much better mentally and physically since. I stopped drinking after that and got back to keeping in shape. Dropped 40lbs. Also helped me appreciate God blessing me with boys of my own to love.

Being a father of 8(six still at home) with a wife who was going through a mental break(bipolar along with borderline personality disorder) and catching her cheating. I wanted to just walk out but eventually, I tried to keep the marriage together because of the kids and she was my best friend spiraling out of control. Once I accepted my fate of living my life as Hosea then things changed.

And God Blessed me. My ex left me with the six kids and did not contest the divorce or my custody of them and I went from Gomer to finding my Ruth (the love of my life) in less than 8 months time.
Ditto this but with three children and finding my Ruth in about 36 months.

Life is filled with struggles and the measure of our character is how we deal with them and then help others.

7 Year
We went through a very similar experience. In March 2007, my wife, two sons and I watched my 13 year old daughter die in a horrific horse accident. At the time, we lived out in the country, so the ambulance was 10 miles away. I had to give her CPR for 22 minutes until the ambulance arrived. She was flown to Memorial Herman in Houston; however, the brain damage was too severe. I had to make the worst decision ever, which was to remove her from life support.

Her organs were donated, so there's that.

I would not wish losing a child on my worst enemy.

Not nearly the level of hardship posted by others but on the list of most stressful things people go through are:

Moving
buying a house
Unemployment
Changing Jobs
Death of a parent
Birth of a Child

Between August of 1991 and February of 1993, we had:

A daughter born 8/91
Graduated from A&M without a job 12/91
Father-in-law died 3/92
Wife graduated from A&M without a job 5/92
Got a job 5/92
moved to California 5/92
moved to austin 11/92
bought a house 1/93
A son born 2/93

I was then also diagnosed with a stomach ulcer.

All is well now though and it didn't seem that bad going through it. It's just what we were doing.

The resilience of the GB board members is amazing. You are exceptional people. It's funny how you watch everyone in social media talk about the great things all the time, while privately we ALL have some tough times.
Keep fighting the good fight.
