Probably the first couple of days in basic training. Lots of confusion and fear. No friends, no family, no communication with them. I joined later in life so I went from relative comfort and control to an environment of the exact opposite. Once I got a routine and made friends there it was fairly easy though.

Working in a military hospital was also pretty difficult. Tough seeing young boys killed or severely wounded and in so much pain.

Being a father of 8(six still at home) with a wife who was going through a mental break(bipolar along with borderline personality disorder) and catching her cheating. I wanted to just walk out but eventually, I tried to keep the marriage together because of the kids and she was my best friend spiraling out of control. Once I accepted my fate of living my life as Hosea then things changed.

And God Blessed me. My ex left me with the six kids and did not contest the divorce or my custody of them and I went from Gomer to finding my Ruth (the love of my life) in less than 8 months time.

Losing my mom to cancer right before the start of my junior year at A&M and then my dad attempting suicide a couple of months later. What made it worse was that I had two younger brothers, one in elementary school and the other in middle school. I probably should have taken the year off as my grades tanked and hurt any chance I had of getting into a decent graduate school.

Dealing with cancer at age 24-25. Then being unemployed in the middle of it.

Everything eventually turned out okay but that was a dark year.

1997-1998...My grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer, so he and my grandma move away to be closer to more family (lived next door my whole life), he died on Labor Day of '97, the week of Christmas, my mom moves out. The whole next year was my parents fighting on-stop over little *****

I am a middle aged lesbian with two children. In Texas, the GOP would love to claim I am an unfit parent and take my children.

Response when pressed for proof:
I actually have 6 links, and was getting super pissed the more info I looked up...So, look it up yourself, I am not going to fight about something I know to be true, to a person who would just as soon see me in prison or dead.

2016 was rough, stressful, and life-changing. But it showed me that I'm tough.

- Lost my job.
- A few weeks later I watched one of my best friends since childhood die of cancer at 35. I was there with her for a week until she passed. Being a part of that was terrible...but I would do it all over again. Sadly, her husband overdosed on pain meds and alcohol 5 days prior to her death. They left a 4 year old behind. I lost two friends in one week.
- A few months later another one of my friends died in a car wreck.
- I got a new job and moved to a new city where I knew no one.
- Sold my house in my prior city.
- Bought a new home in new city.
- Got into and out of a terrible and mentally abusive relationship.

Junior year of high school. Nothing major, just tough classes and extracurricular activities (I've been about as lucky in life as a person can be)

I would say my wife leaving earlier this summer and the process of divorce has been the hardest point in my life so far. Basic training was a close second, but that pain was mostly physical. Combat survival training was miserable, but only lasted a week.

The plus side is that Seattle is a great town to be single in.

I was pretty depressed my first semester here at A&M. None of my friends had come and I wasn't really involved in anything, so I was lonely a lot. Turned it around, though

A couple years ago, my sister's son died unexpectedly in his sleep. Wrecked me for months. Sadly, I'm sure I didn't feel even a fraction of what she must have. Second to that, when I was in high school my brother abruptly broke down into a violent schizophrenic state. It was a pretty scary and heartbreaking experience.

Mom's attempts at suicide, alcoholism and depression. My dad's open heart surgeries and prostate cancer. Put my life on hold during those few years as a new grad because I was trying to keep the family together. Got cheated on in a 7 year relationship because I was pretty weak and distracted at the time. Few years there where I was very lost. Parents got divorced a month ago a week after I got married.

Thankfully I have cleaved and moved on and have a rockstar of a wife to keep me from being sucked back in. Back in school pursuing medicine and life is on the up and up. And I can still say God is good.

I'm 14 and my mother and father are fighting again. Because she caught him again. This time the girl drove by the house to pick him up. And I finally realized, he wasn't just cheating on my mother, he was cheating on us. So I told him, I said, "You're bad to us. We don't love you. I'll take care of my mother and my sister. We don't need you any more." And he made like he was gonna hit me, but I didn't budge. And he turned around and he left. He never bothered us again. Well, I took care of my mother and my sister from that day on.

I'm sorry about that. I wish I had a way to fix things instead of feeling useless. Good luck through this rough time.

I watched my 3 yr old son die in a terrible accident. My other two children and wife were also there. There are no words to describe that pain, for my son dying and with us seeing it. Watching my wife suffer that pain as his Mom and watching his brothers, mainly the 7 yr old, process this and grieve is almost insurmountable.

This sounds utterly devastating. I'm so sorry you and your family had to go through that.

My dad died on a business trip suddenly from a heart attack. He was fit as a fiddle and very carefully monitored his heart health and diet. I got the call from the [city he was visiting] police because I was the first person whose contact info they could find. He missed getting to meet my son by a few months. I don't remember much about that day besides my boss escorting me out of the office to my wife waiting to pick me up, giving me a hug, and telling me not to come back until I'm ready. That was a rough day.
