I can't remember being in one in about 20 years. Didn't realize they were still in business.

Once or twice a year. Best thing now is - LJS is in the same building as KFC. If you're tough, you can double down on grease.

It definitely deserves a wtf!! Been a fan since I was a kid. Luckily I don't go very often so I'm still in pretty good shape.

Been 20+ years for me as well. Those seafood wraps weren't too bad. And the crumbs were the best part when I was a kid. And now I'm craving hushpuppies, dammit...

That's because it is a mob front!!! You know good and well they aren't surviving on fish fry alone!

As for LJS, I went to the Bryan location about 16 years ago and one in South Carolina three years before that, and that's all, for ever.

I actually worked there as my 1st job. This was back in the late 70's (yes, I'm an old). What an experience.

I was a cook and all the cooks had a code for spotting cute girls who happened to walk in. We'd call out "fries in four" which sounded like fries would be ready in 4 minutes but was just our code to look up at the customers. The same grease would be kept overnight and re-heated the next day so no telling how old that stuff became that we cooked in every night. Everything was cooked in the same vats so everything pretty much tasted the same.

Somebody mentioned Fridays during Lent. No kidding. Those nights were brutal. I remember on Good Friday that I had just started so got the worst assignment. I only mixed batter all night. It required full time mixing just to keep up with the demand.

The crumbles were just batter that fell off the fish. I don't know how anybody could eat that stuff. We got all the free cokes you could drink so I was pretty sugared up all night.

We had to wear those stupid hats back then as well - similar to Judge Reinhold in "Fast Times". I guess there are worse first jobs, but this wasn't the best either.

Monday. I spend a lot of time in Oak Cliff.

Probably 10 years ago. Still have the trots.

We used to go a lot when we were kids. Chicken strips, fries, hush puppies and crunchies. Never cared much for the fish. Probably been at least 15 years since I've been to one. Don't know the last time I've even seen one. Took a leak on the side of a Capt Ds around 04-05

Every couple of months. Those hush puppies are fantastic.

We have Capt D's around these parts. Last went about 3 years ago. Had a colon re-section with part of colon removed about 2.5 years ago so may not have been a coincidence...haven't been back.

summer of 2005, had moved back to my Mom's to take care of her because of her health & age. She asked me to go buy her a one piece dinner. She enjoyed eating it.

Two months later she's bed ridden in a nursing home,...two years later she's gone. Not because of the one piece dinner.

Maybe once or twice a year. I dig their hush puppies and I kind of like the chicken planks... until I eat one and then I'm done. I mostly just order hush puppies.

What odd timing. I was thinking the same thing. I see LJS disappearing.

Honestly I think the food is gross except for one thing........hush puppies. About 3x a year I will hit the drive thru and order 1/2 doz hush puppies.

2 years in Bryan. I only went because my sister knew someone working there and he told us only go on a Tuesday when they get a fresh truck. and only go when he could watch the fryer.
