Doh.

I said some true things but not in a tactful way. Needless to say since some of the parties are external an email recall would not work.

At least it was about an individual with the external accounting firm that is providing us with "support" and not about anyone internal.

The mildly apologetic email just went out.

Wow. That button should automatically ask "Are you SURE?"

Easy. Just demand a thorough investigation into the hacking incident, and spread a coworker's coffee cup all over your keyboard for DNA.

In my defense it was a 12 hour day, very stressful and the email sent me over the top.

Have not accidentally "replied all" in almost 15 years, dammit.

And to be fair, there's no reason why anyone should automatically interpret the word "Jewish" as a pejorative. If anything, they're exposing their own bigotry by pretending to be offended.

That sucks, but it happens. I write emails under the assumption that anybody can read them.

At least you're not like the girl in my office who sent her dental school application out to the entire office. I'm really not sure how somebody can make THAT big of a mistake.

yeah, not THAT bad. I replied to my bosses email correcting him on some information he just gave, indicating that he was not specific enough and that the audit partner would-be anal about us not providing specifics.

At least that is the nice version of it.

I usually do as well. but I am way too tired (we are rolling out a new payroll system this weekend) and it has been a LONG 3 months of data mapping, testing, documentation, etc because of SOX compliance, addressing parent company concerns etc.

not an excuse, but it happens.

oh well.

We actually did need you to say that since you had yet to provide us with any information that would lead us to that conclusion.

Better than the people who reply to all because they don't know any better. Not everyone wants to know your shirt size for the shirt order.

The company-wide reply-all disaster isn't complete until you rack up a couple dozen reply-alls asking to be removed from the reply-all list.

Have fun tomorrow.

Or the people who reply all to someone who accidentally sent an email to the whole site.

"Please take me off this list"

followed by the other 20 idiots who hit reply all with the same message.

You live in Seattle. Tell those liberal ps to just get over it while they passive aggressively moan about you.

Make sure you get them into their safe space and tell them you're going to vote for Ed Murray for life.

If you use Outlook take advantage of the delay function. It has saved me a couple of times.

A guy I worked with accidentally sent something he shouldn't have to a client one time. So he quickly forwarded it 10 more times to the same client and then followed it up with an email saying he caught a virus and to not open any of the prior emails.

Thought it was pretty quick thinking. and I believe it worked.

Closely related to the reply-all "please remove me" maneuver is the reply-all "thanks". I keep a spreadsheet of the bastages who do that so I can remember who the idiots are at review time.

My old boss accidentally grabbed the wrong file off of his desktop and replied all to the company management team with a file symmarizing all of his retirement accounts and early departure plans.

Message Recall did not work. I remember how nervous he looked for a few days.

We had one of these yesterday. It was great. The CEO had to send out a note telling people to "STOP HITTING REPLY ALL"

Then a couple hours later a new wave started.

I've had this happen to me once. I was the other side. Trust me the 3rd party doesn't care. They will use it to their advantage however.

When it happened to me, I just replied back to all with, 'unsubscribe'.

Could be worse. At least you didn't accidentally forward a racist joke to all 20k+ employees including the CEO.

ETA I was a recipient of said forwarded joke, not the sender.

Every so often, the company will send out one of those "Monthly Award Winners" or message about someone's promotion or retirement.

I immediately flag that email's subject line to be sent to the trash. That way, the oncoming onslaught of Reply: All emails with that same subject line get routed straight to the garbage.

Saves me a lot of time.

A one minute Outlook outbox delay is a wonderful thing (can be overridden by sending an email as "high importance")

This....

I can't tell you how many times I've sent an email to ONE person and they end up forwarding it to TWENTY people.

Everything you type is discoverable.
