roundabouts... preferably roundabouts within roundabouts
They could get rid of that run down looking apartment/office building.
Just eliminate the intersection, and it can't be a problem anymore.

The RR right of way makes most anything a no-go from the start.

And another thing...If you weren't letting everyone and their f'n dog into the school this might not be that big of an issue.

Checked out some of the plans. I like the idea of elevating one of the roads over top. I don't like the idea of shutting down the intersection for 6 months. Shutting that ****er down for such a long time will cause serious problems elsewhere. They might need to do some quick adjustments to other intersections just in preparation for something like this.

None of those round abouts are at such a busy intersection. I've also witnessed some extreme dumbassery at the existing round abouts.

I'm not saying I like the roundabouts, I hate the one by my house. People don't know how to use it and there's not enough visibility in one direction to make it work better than what was previously there.
I actually like the idea of shutting it down. Close it down, work around the clock and knock it out. The worst kind of construction is like what happened with I35 where it has been almost 10 YEARS and it's still not done. Some of those options involve the project taking 4 or 5 years. Can you imagine going to A&M with that intersection down to 1 lane or sometimes closed for your entire college career? It was bad enough fully open. Wellborn would back up to 2818.
I'm ok with a shut down if they complete it fast and figure out a way to re-route traffic so it doesn't cause bigger problems. I am not hopeful that they will do either of those things. This is the government we're talking about.
Shut it down for 6 months starting February 1. Better than 5 years of traffic problems.

Just do the same thing by the bell tower or at villa Maria.
The huge new student housing complex across Bush will open soon, so they've got to do something to get people back and forth safely across that busy four-lane road and intersection to campus.
With the new intermural fields going in south of Bush, they'll need a safer crossing at Penberthy, too. Perhaps just a small pedestrian/cycle tunnel?

Per the rendering, if you are walking on the north side of Bush and get hungry for McD's you have to double back twice on a ped bridge to cross the road, or just run across the road and climb the retaining wall

Yeah, mcdonalds sorta gets screwed with this new intersection.
Road construction around B/CS is an Aggie joke. That rendering is ludicrous.
