Here's a couple older things, one digital that I was messing around with and one traditional. I have like 3 recent paintings at the house I'm still working on occasionally but I dont think I have images of them.

Not to step into a joke thread but I draw/paint semi-regularly, but probably not really enough to get great at it.
I feel like I started a thread very similar to this one in Entertainment once maybe? I may have posted them there??Gramercy Riffs said:
Have you posted those here before? They look familiar.

Helpful hint for pencil/graphite drawing - try to create all of the shadows/contours by using the pencil only. Resist the tempation to blend with fingers. One of the first things I teach my students. The natural oils in our fingers can make a portrait (or any other drawing for that matter) appear dirty. And stay away from blending stumps while they are learning. Very nice drawing! Are you gonna post any of your work or just keep asking questions?Gramercy Riffs said:

I would LOVE to be taught techniques like this. I've even entertained taking some college courses for funnies to learn how to draw and post better.

In all seriousness, this is a great book to get started. I know some really amazing artists that have read this or own a copy of it.chiken said:

I think it's a good fill-in if you don't want to bother with private lessons. It really helps to see things as basic shapes, and how everything builds up from that. Then you learn to add tone, and it provides depth and makes everything look the way you actually see it.chiken said:
Thank you for recommending it! I'm ordering it as we speak.
