Walking back to the truck after checking out our latest varmint kill. My dad prefers to be quieter than I do. Guess that comes with age.

It may have been someone else I'm thinking about but wasn't there an article in the news about you two a few years back about coaching against each other? Maybe it was someone else...

What newspaper?

I don't think there was anything written, but my memory sucks. I know it's been mentioned a few times in match write ups.

What Year? What weight?

Frat or Open Division?

I fought as a sophomore but not as a junior b/c def end James Zachary entered in "79. He was a real man and had a bye to the finals. All of his opponents forfeited except in the final. Walk on receiver Fred Caldwell fought in the finals. (At least 50% of this is accurate.)

'79 I believe, may have been '80. He wasn't in a frat. I'm not sure about the weight class, I think he was about 190, maybe more, maybe less.

Hope my dad has found The Lord. Would love to ask him why he killed my mom, but I don't trust myself to not seriously harm him if we're ever face to face.

She was! She did some modeling in LA in her early 20s. She was a beautiful woman even into her 60s.

Correct on the timeframe - it'd have to be between late 1969 and mid-1971, since they were married in August of '71.

This is them a few months ago in their natural habitat - a winery somewhere.

Wow.. pretty close timeline to my parents.

Married in June 1972. This first pic is summer 1971.. dad is 19 almost 20 and mom is 18 almost 19. Second pic is later that year I think. Met and married within 12 months. Attended USL together, both graduated, had brother in '77 and me in '80.

They don't make em like this much anymore!
They'll hit 45th anniversary next June, and they love going to Napa!

with me.. maybe 3 years old?? I don't even know.

Still one of my favorite threads. A lot has changed since I started this thread almost a year ago. Dad passed in October.

Miss him dearly.

Left to right:

Me (class of '10, Corps of Cadets Sq. "Thunderbird" 3), my little brother (class of '14, walked on as an Inside Linebacker under Mike Sherman), and my dad (class of '83, Corps of Cadets Sq. "Gator" 2).

My father is the friggin' man. Love that guy to death. If I can be a fifth of the dad/role model/badass he was for me growing up, I think my son-to-be will be alright.

My Dad did the first non-surgical embryo transfer in a horse in the United States when he was in grad school at A&M. He's the hardest working sonofa***** I've ever known and I hope to be half the man he is someday.
