Any of you oil business cats have something like this? Trying to scratch build one in N scale for my upcoming Santa Fe railroad layout. Could use some simple diagrams with dimensions if possible.

Do you have a location? Do you have the rights to this information? Do you have the means to pay for a service?

Basically I just need a layout of a well pad with dimensions and maybe an overall heigh of the rig. Also width of tower, size of steel beam used in the structure, etc. Once I have that I can convert it all to N scale.

Figure the base at 25'x25' and total height at around 80'

That's too old. I'm modeling around the '80s or so with yellow and black Santa Fe locos.

I might be able to get the dimensions for this if you have time for me to look for it:

If you search the right drilling companies, it's public knowledge and you can see the deminsions of a jackup, drillship and a semisubmersible.

Just FYI.

The basic derrick hasn't changed much. The lateral steel is 4" steel, and cross bracing is 2" The corners are either 6" or 8" steel, and can go up from there depending on the material being drilled. Each installation is slightly different. The dimensions given above are within average spec. You might lower the overall height from 80' to around 60' Everything else is pretty standard stuff.

Methinks you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to O&G drilling rigs.

Jack up rigs are offshore drilling platforms used in water depths up to 400 fsw. The platform is towed out to location then the legs are "jacked" down till they hit the bottom and then the platform is jacked up to create an air gap. Typically used as workover rigs.

Didn't really pay attention to that. I was referring to his quoted height.
