The first dogs we got were pure bred dachshunds. One was a wedding gift that was actually born on our wedding day and the second was a younger sister from a different litter.

We had to put the brother down back in 2023 and the sister in 2024.

Whelp, we made a decision a few days ago and here are the results. 4 month old golden doodle. The kids had no idea.

Kids picked the name. "Chewie"

It appears to me that "he/she" is going after a scent such as a ground mole perhaps? It doesn't look like the type of hole that is for laying down in cooler soil.

Im sure this is not the case here but I've heard a few stories of dogs (even a cat!) that detected gas leaks and saved their owners' lives. Their sense of smell is simply astounding.
