Just read an article that said all those weak ass, no form pull ups you do are linked to the inability to produce sperm. It also said that you're 143% more likely to injury yourself at the box than going to a real gym.

How many of you aren't having kids?

I'm going say not very many here do cross fit because nobody talks about it.

I go to crossfit 4-5 days a week.

If an added benefit is that it's keeping me from procreative pollution, then it's just that much better.

There was certainly a period of time in which crossfitters would talk about it way too often. That time has now passed.

Now, the really annoying ***gots are the internet fatasses who will die in less than 10 years from heart disease due to their type II diabetes brought on by their morbid obesity. It's about as legitimate an argument as telling a runner that he's going to do damage to his joints while you plod through walmart in your electric wheelchair.

4-5 times/week for over 3 years now. No injuries. It's all about the coaching and the quality of your gym.

Wait. So crossfitters become a group of annoying dbags who won't talk about anything but crossfit. People make fun of them for it, and those people are jealous haters? I got it.

Notice how there was no conversation about crossfit on the GB until the OP started a thread to hate on it.

Wife blew up her knee doing crossfit, her friend blew up a shoulder.

The very purpose of crossfit is to get to total muscular exhaustion. So what's left when your muscles fail? Your joints. While you are coming down off a 3 foot high box or holding 135 pounds of weight over your head.

I think you mean blew out. I imagine blowing up a knee or shoulder would be life threatening and possibly need amputations.

I tore my ACL playing basketball. Do you get on message boards warning everyone of the dire dangers of playing basketball rather than exercising on an elliptical?

I'd say the issue with training, in general, is to think properly about how you're going about it. If you're constantly asking your body for max performances that cause your form to break down, that's going to increase your risk of injury. This is true for any sport as well. Almost every game you'll ask your body for a max performance. There's also the question of overuse injuries with constant max performances, but that's a semi separate issue.

I will say I like the fact that crossfit has gotten people to actually use ****ing barbells again and get off these stupid machines, I just disagree with their methods.

People get injured doing crossfit because they don't listen. Been going over a year, not a single injury.

No, because the purpose of basketball is not total muscular exhaustion. Do you even do reading comprehension bro?

Olympic powerlifts should never be a timed exercise.
Knife_Party
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hmm. I can't agree with never. One legged bosu ball squats for time? Absolutely never.

If you have to gear up for a performance event (i.e. a competition) that requires barbell lifts for time then you'll have to practice them. However, they should not be the basis for an entire training program.

Oh. All conversations in the world are on texags.
You know how to know if someone does crossfit? They'll tell you. This thread was in response to the thousands of crossfitters who won't shut up about it.
