You mean like physical therapy or rehabilitation?

I typically key their car or leave them a sternly-worded note on their windshield. Or something else similarly passive-aggressive.

Real answer - those kind of people irk me (i.e. obviously taking advantage of the system), but IDGAS enough to really do anything about it. I typically just shake my head and laugh at their sorry state of existence.

Depends on if they have a sticker or not.

Is their hang tag red? Doesn't that mean retarded or deaf or something non-physical?

Texas doesn't do the red tag thing.

And Ryan's right. You don't know what they're there for, or what their handicap is.

As long as they have a permit. Otherwise, call the cops on em.

You could always ask them about it.

Not as bad as the person who holds up traffic while waiting for the closest parking spot at the gym to open up.

Depends. Do they put their shopping cart up?

The red placard is for temporary disability, the blue, permanent

False. I've seen several blue Temps and had a blue one when I shattered my ankle.

The red is for conditions that do not limit mobility, but still needs reduced exertion. I had it when I had mono.

The blue is for limited mobility, such as being in a wheel chair or being an lolfat.

You got a tag for mono? Stay in bed a few days and wait it out

I had it when I was at A&M. I couldn't stand up long enough to dry my hair. There was no way I could walk to all my classes from my regular parking.

It only took about a month to recover, but the tag was good for 6 months. Free parking directly behind Northgate was amazeballs.

I think, in general, there are too many handicap spaces and there are too many people who qualify for handicap placards. the diagram itself shows someone in a wheelchair and originally that's what they were designed for not so anymore. I understand there are some people who genuinely need the additional help but I think we've stretched the limits to far as to who we allow to get these special spaces.

here's a personal example of mine I know a lady in Austin who is in her late forties and is otherwise in perfect physical health but she has one eye that points to the right extremely while the other eye straight forward or is normal. this lady who is perfectly capable of walking long distances as much as any other human on the planet gets to qualify for a blue placard. I'm sorry but I don't think that's fair or right in any sense of the word.

From txdmv.gov:

A blue placard is for a person who has a permanent disability. This placard is renewable every 4 years. A red placard is for a person who has a temporary disability.

How does she have a drivers license? I'd be more concerned about her being able to clearly focus on the road and less concerned about where she is able to park

I see this at my gym and it is usually an Escalade or a C class and they always have aftermarket rims.

It's because they have friends/relatives at the DMV that hook them up with a HC hang tag.

This must have changed. I had a blue placard after knee surgery. Good for 6 months only.

many years ago I griped on here about someone who was obviously able-bodied parking in a handicap spot at the store. I didn't confront the person, on the off chance they had an actual good reason for parking there. I just came to TexAgs and griped. Man, I got lectured and called all kinds of horrible things.

My wife is disabled. I am not. I do have the blue hanging tag in my truck but never use those spaces when she is not with me, EVER!!!!!

You see this issue at College Station restaurants a lot. All the handicap spaces are filled and nobody has a wheelchair. I guess a lot of elderly have bum knees or some other mobility limiting issue.

Don't give personal examples. We are obviously wrong.

My mom is constantly using my grandmother's disabled tag when she runs errands. I scold her every time and tell her karma is gonna get her with a disability of her own.
