Jesus Christ!! I didn't realize everyone on TexAgs was a freaking relationship expert. Some of y'all act like you wrote the book on how to get a woman. Let go of the history man. If that history comes back later...after a few dates....then move on. But you didn't even do that. you did exactly the right thing. I call total bullshlt on anyone saying she was interested in you when she contacted you. She had her feelings hurt by real man #1, and needed something "safe" to build her confidence back up. You are "safe". In her mind, you can make her feel good about herself.....until the next real man comes into her life. (not calling you a non-real man, but that's her idea of you)

What you did last night was save yourself some money, and save yourself some frustration. You could have played along like these dumbasses here on the GB say, and perhaps you may have gotten some drunk hook up time, last night or in the future. But it would have been more about her loneliness than any attraction to you. That's fine if that is what you are looking for, but that is rolling the dice while paying hundreds of dollars every damn week. I'd rather you find the girl attracted to you and spend the money.

Now, if the evening went exactly the way you describe it, I think she may call/text you in a day or so. Bottom line is you are in charge now. There are dozens of people replying in this thread who don't have the stones to do what you did. Take solace in that every interaction with this woman in the future is now on your terms. Unless you like reading wanna-be-Casanovas pull advice out of their ass and act like it's a sure fire way to get kitty, then no.

My only feedback would be this: it seems like all of the your (OP's) actions centered around the assumption that she was doing the same things she's done in the past. If you consider yourself to have changed a lot, why not give her the benefit of the doubt as well? That's probably what she was hoping to show you in the first place, and why she remarked on how much you have changed.

Let's just acknowledge 2 basic facts here:

1. She's a drama queen.
2. Colin is a sucker for big, sad eyes and a long, sad story.

The worse you treat one of these drama queens , the better they like it. If you would have turned her first advance down (can't make it, out of town, busy, have plans) she would have been MUCH more interested. The fact that you said yes and then let her know what you were thinking and feeling told her you're the same doormat you always were.

When she started talking about that other dude, you should have changed the subject or left. (Have to go to the bathroom). That sends a clear message that you don't care about her experience with him and you aren't going to be the shoulder to cry on. Actions speak louder than words. You said "I don't want to be the shoulder to cry on " ....and yet you sat there and listened to that tripe.

You're problem is you're too nice about getting what you want. Too afraid to be rude. You have to realize SHE'S being rude when she drags you into a situation like meeting up and dragging you down with her sob story.
