There was a chick who used to run this scam behind the old Albertson's on University. She'd ask you for twenty dollars, give you a hand job, then just keep the money. I fell for that one quite a few times.

If I give her the twenty bucks "for gas" and then have her blow me, is that still prostitution?

Had a guy approach me at 8/West in Houston asking for money.
I told him I didn't have any, reached in the back seat, grabbed a Miller Lite longneck and handed it to him.

His reaction was priceless. Like I had given him the best gift ever. Probably thanked me 1,000 times...

While we were on our way to Santa Fe, we stopped off at a McDonald's because skranita was hungry. There was a homeless person in front of the place. When we got out of the car, the conversation was something like:

Homeless guy: It's your lucky day!
Arson: Why's that?
HG: You get to buy me some food
Arson: Is that right? Alright, see ya later.

Then we walked in and ordered our meal. Arson went back up and ordered a ton of food, coffee, and soda, then went back outside and handed him the bag. The guy was so excited. I don't think he'd eaten in a week. The funny thing is, I didn't know Arson was doing that (I thought he was waiting on our order) so I had gone up and bought a $20 gift card when he dropped our food off and the headed to what I thought was the RR. He was actually headed just outside. That's when I went to the counter to get the gift card. So after Arson had given him his food I tell Arson I need to use the RR and I walk out and hand him the Gift Card. That's when I see the food and I realize what Arson had done. He says to me, "God bless your family" then starts crying. He was gone when by the time we left.

But neither Arson or I could stand to NOT feed the man and we both did it without even knowing the other was doing it. When we got back in the car Arson told me he had fed the guy and I told him I had given him a gift card. Then we both laughed about it and said, "well, at least he'll have a few more meals".

Donate to the food bank or homeless shelter. Everyone lies or tries to be picky w handouts.

They did an expose a while back on a "homeless" guy in SA and he had a house and family. Took home 30K in handouts.

When I was 18 the summer before I left home for A&M I met this chick at a small concert in Dallas and went home with her to her step-sister's house..after that I was completely in love and it turns out she lived in Lufkin 2 and a half hours away so I just had to go see her next weekend. Told my Dad I was going to go camp out with my buddies and drove to Lufkin to see this chick...then me and her are driving around and I'm trying to impress her and do some dukes of hazzard **** in my car and run into a drain culvert and trash the car. So I had to make a very difficult phone call to Dad the next day. Ended up taking the greyhound bus to Lufkin on the weekends to go see this chick for a year

If someone runs into the Davonte guy again just tell him that you'd like to help but you can't because it would be an NCAA violation. Then see what he says.

Dallas stories

1. Money for DART train is common. I hear the same story from this huge (linebacker size) man stating he was just released from prison and needs to ride DART to get to his job. Like Ferris missing class, I've counted nine times now.

2. Never confront them with their lie if you're alone.. Two years ago in downtown, this one guy used to watch three parking lots and would follow people to their cars. Always the same story about how he knew I was a good man and blah blah. After four straight days of this, I confront him. I say "this is Friday and you've asked me every day this week. I'll never have money for you." He went on a screaming racist rant. I started walking to the police officer within earshot and he ran.

Next week, I saw him AGAIN late at night and was scared. I'm approached, and he has no recollection.

3. Favorite: Dude at DART station had paperwork claiming to raise money for a burned down church. It was in the news. I pull out the wallet and have a $5 and $20. I pull for the five, and he stated that The Lord would love the $20 more.

At that point, I said that He sure would but only if I watch the news and donate at where they tell me. Dude told me to eff off and burn in hell in front of a large crowd. Yeah you're helping a church. Saw him 6 months later doing it again.

4. 2nd favorite. I was handed a card stating he was deaf and mute. Shook head no. He just stares and points. I pull out my wallet to show its empty. He just yells "effing BS" and walks. I laugh a little and he then flips me off. Apparently he wasn't deaf either.

5. There is hope. Had a guy last month approach me for food money. NEVER happens. I had no problem so long as I went with him to make the purchase. He accepted, ordered lots of food. Restaurant saw what I did and chipped in to lower the cost. He was very thankful. It's just knowing the situation.

I was burned once and never again. Actually found a guy I gave money to making a street deal, in which I remember him having a sob story on gas. Its 99% a lie. Any kind of story is an auto lie. The truth is direct and simple.

Lately they have been more aggressive. They wait by the pay machines in parking lots in the AM and confront you about how you have money to park but not for them.

I used to pass by a homeless guy on the way to class almost every day in college. When I would ask him if I could grab him food, coffee, or cigs from the gas station right there, he'd always say no thank you. When it was freezing cold he'd always tell me to hurry up to class so that I didn't turn into an icicle.

He was nice.

I have also been stopped by a lady who clearly lived in her car asking for gas money of food. She was parked in the back of the grocery store parking between the gas station and the grocery store. I was picking up some beer and hot dogs to grill with friends and I couldn't stand not to, so I grabbed one of those rotisserie chicken s and took it out to her. When I gave it to her, she started crying, told me someone else had just given her $10 and a banana and it would be the best/most she'd eaten all week. Then she asked if she could pray with me.

She might have been full of it, but she deserved an Oscar if so.

Here in Philly, there's a nonprofit program called "One Step Away" for homeless/jobless people on the streets of Center City (our downtown) to get involved. It's a newspaper that features articles written by homeless, which is then printed and sold for $1/issue. The vendor keeps 75 cents of that, and the remaining 25 goes to printing costs. Their idea is twofold- raising awareness of homelessness in Philly, while also providing actual employment and something to put on a resume so they can step up and get a better job.

I'm sure this will get met with the usual GB responses of "That's stupid", but it's the only time my wife or I will give money to someone on the street. It's cool talking with them because they're really proud to have some sort of gainful employment and contribute something to the world.

My wife's a softie and used to see a "homeless" guy with a sign at one intersection on her way to work in the mornings. She'd give him some change or a buck a lot of the time. I kept trying to get her to stop it. IMO, it's just encouraging a human to behave like a stray dog, begging for scraps. If no one rewarded street corner begging, those folks would be forced to go to shelters or food banks, where there are other resources to help them with their legitimate problems, besides just being hungry (assuming they even are). That's for the ones who are there out of real necessity. For the ones that are doing it as a scam, they'd have to find real work.

Anyway, she told me that she was worried because she hadn't seen the guy at his corner for a couple of weeks. Finally one morning she saw him, and as she gave him a buck she told him she had missed him. He told her "yeah, i was coming in to work late for a while." I got a chuckle out of that one.

It's a good thing shelters and food banks are both plentiful and well-funded everywhere.

Years ago when I was lived in the Keys for a spell, and during the winter months Mallory square would fill up with "winter bums" that wintered in the Keys. One evening we went to the Sunset Festival and there amongst the multitude of bums was this one vagrant with a sign that basically said:
"100% honest, Drunk Bum needs beer real bad, and maybe a little food, would appreciate help"

That dude raked it in, in both booze and cash. I gave him $5.

I've done this before.. but I have a stipulation:
If you ask me to help you out with gas, I'll ask you to pull your car around to the pump and I'll swipe the card inside and tell the cashier to pump X dollars.

This results in 9 out of 10 of these people to back-peddle and say oh can I just have the cash, to which I say no.
