Ok we need some help from the Aggie network. One of our own was shot in line of duty serving our great State. Chris Fried '07 is a Texas Game Warden and was shot early this month. Since he was off duty during the incident (even though he was responding to local problem) him and his family do not get the full benefit of Texas's offered services to wounded uniform officers. Chris and his family need the Aggie network to help them in this time of need. This is how you can help. Please share with others.

Okay, that's just stupid. If he was responding to an incident as an officer, he should be treated that way. Like any other LEO, he is never really "off duty".

Agree, Canyon. Although this is the first time I've heard that he was investigating when he was shot. All previous stories I read said he was walking back to his truck after hunting.

The news is reporting what the police report said, and Game Wardens cannot legally respond to activity outside uniform.

But his family and other friend Game Wardens (I have ties to game warden locally is how I know this) are saying he hopped out of his stand and was responding to something he saw nearby.

Classic Cop Scenario: Cop is eating with his family in donut shop off duty , and donut shop gets rob. Cop gets out of his seat to respond with off duty revolver and shot while reacting to crime.

My cousin is a game warden out in Jefferson county and he's gotten shot at more than once.

Ridiculous. People are scum.

ttt, they are only half-way to their fundraising goal, and as I posted on some other boards:

quote:
My cousin Crista is married to a Game Warden and I'd seen her post on Facebook about her husband's buddy, Chris Fried, a fellow Texas Game Warden who had been shot while checking into some suspected illegal hunting on December 30, 2013.

As it turns out Chris Fried is Chris Fried Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2007, and the "Proud Wives of Texas Game Wardens" are raising money for his medical bills. He was shot in the shoulder with a high-powered rifle and the bullet lodged in his chest. Apparently it tore up his lungs because he's still in the hospital.

Anyway, I figured y'all may want to help this guy out. You can either buy a shirt or donate straight to the bills:

T-shirt order form:

Straight donation:

Here's a news story if y'all wanna look into it more: http://northdallasgazette.com/2014/01/01/texas-game-warden-in-icu-at-parkland-following-gunshot-two-men-arrested/

And I did check AggieNetwork.com and verified the guy is in fact an Aggie and class of '07.
