I'm really laughing at how cute Dr Ag is in this thread.

I thought I knew a lot when I was 22 and still in college too

Is this where I'm supposed to brag about how much money I make?

This isn't my first time on a message board. That 2015 must be your class year at Troll Harder U because you obviously haven't mastered that yet

No need to brag, it's readily apparent that you don't make that much based on your comments from similar threads.

I guess you think because I enjoy the Strat I must be broke. You're just so adorable at your age.

It's cute that you're unable to admit you have a low paying job compared to your peers. I have several 22-25 yr old friends making 90k+. That must bother you to no end that these "kids" (who are 5-8 years younger) are making more than you.

3 years out 2 years in current field that requires a HS diploma only. 56k now at 4 years it will be 63k. I only work 10 days a month and that's if I don't schedule any holiday or vacation. Thus it's about 105 days a year.

You have my age wrong and my salary. I guess you haven't learned to not speak in absolutes about things you know nothing about. Maybe that's next semester, kiddo

4 years out I was making 44K. It seemed respectable to me even if that would have made me a lolpoor on texags.

I'm now 10 years out and made 22K...... last month.

From my experience, it seems like the more money I make the more stressful a job is. My first job out making 30K was probably my favorite out of all the ones I've had up to this point.

Wrong on both counts. I was under the impression you were '05 or should I update my spreadsheet?

Obviously a different job. Same industry? Pretty impressive.

I'll graduate in May, no job yet. Interested to see how this will all turn out though.

Always liked this quote/thought it was funny:

I made 10k in one weekend a couple weeks ago and haven't worked since and probably won't until that runs out, and then do it again.

I think a lot of people are including overtime and bonuses into this debate. Not debating whether they should or shouldn't, but saying one makes $100K a year working 60 hours a week is a lot different than $100K working 40 hours a week (or in austinAg's case, probably $200K working 20 hours a week ). If people posted their effective hourly rates, I bet you'd see a lot more in the $30-40 range than $48-60.

True dat. I'm at work a lot. But I love it.

After working for salary for so many years its nice to get paid for the other 40 hours I work in a week!

4 years of out school, I was hardly making anything. I was in a position where I was not getting much wage growth but was getting excellent career and knowledge growth that I could not have gotten elsewhere, even if that hypothetical other job paid three times more.

What I think a lot of you are failing to realize is that while you may have had great wage growth in years 0-4 post graduation, there is no guarantee you will grow much beyond that. You can make fun of some of the guys here, but what if your 90-100K only grows to 120K (inflation adjusted) over the next 10 years? If you're not management capable, I think there is a ceiling in the mid 100s (150-160), and then even if you are, there is another big ceiling in the low 200s (think 220-225) for those that are only capable of line management or middle management.

My point to you young bucks is that a better measuring stick after 4 years is not raw dollars, but rather what you are capable of doing for the remainder of your career.

I went back to school and changed careers. I picked up a lot of debt while in school. I'm trying to pay my debt off as fast as I can so I end up paying more than two-thirds of my income towards debt and taxes and I still drive a chitty car.
