Rice is your top option in Texas... but you have no consideration for Texas? I find that a little bit odd. You'll need a 700 or close to it for UT-Austin as well.

By the way, I don't consider myself to be incredibly intelligent by any means, but I studied very little due to a very time consuming job and came out with a 720. This shouldn't be something that you have to "bust your ass" for, unless you just generally have trouble with standardized tests.

I graduated engineering 5 years ago, and the only people I know making 100k work in the oil field. The people who are traditional engineers make 70-80k

I'm broke as hell because I'm starting over in a new industry at the very bottom, making half of what I made coming out of school. But, it's worth it because I was in the wrong kind of work. The money will come eventually. I just tell myself to keep at it, do the right thing and I'll be rewarded. It's depressing a lot at times. Must be patient. Ugh. As long as I have high speed internet and can afford a new phone every year I can be pretty damn happy, though

That's way more than what I make.

I save my money (now close to 700 a month ), and have some saved up for school. I'm going to apply to UT anyways, but I'd prefer not to have to need additional loans than the school fees, that's all.

you say $165k/yr for 1/2 the year. That's $6,346 per working week (26 weeks)

if you get credit for 24 hours/day/week, that's 168 hours. So, that's 40 at straight pay and 128 at 1.5x, or basically 40+192=232 hours. $6,346 / 232 hours = $27/hr

if you get credit for 16 hours/day/week, using the same math (40 + 1.5x), that's $43/hr


I'm curious what blue collar job you think is "underpaid" at $27/hr or $43/hr?

also, I'm curious what job pays 2-3x that much/hr for blue collar work (your "underlings" that make 2-3x your stated numbers)

Went from 45k to 68k in 4 years. I'm content at the rate of increase. Petroleum engineers make $100k plus easy after 4 years...

I do know someone that helped design the website for 7-11. She made $135k a year for working at home and 10-12 hours a week.

She quit to be a stay at home mom. Ridiculous as that sounds....
