The people in charge of the neighborhood pool must be retarded.

The water was so cloudy this morning that the swim coach was going to cancel pratice b/c they could not see the stripes on the bottom of the pool (you know, in the area where it is < 4-feet deep!).

Just how hard is it to keep the water chemistry correct and keep the water clear?

Two years ago a resident was doing it and the water was crystal clear. Unfortunetly he's gone and no one has really stepped up to take his place (and no, I have a real job and 4-kids and don't have time to check water 3x a day or I would).

You could always get this guy hired.

It can be difficult to keep the pool clean at times, especially if the person responsible isn't being proactive about its upkeep.

Get a professional out there and you wont have these kinds of problems.

If the water was cloudy that’s probably because they just through a bunch of shock in it. Shock will make the pool cloudy for a while until is dissolves. A pool that is not kept clean will turn green, not cloudy.

It's been cloudy for over a week now (and getting worse). Someone mentioned the filter needs to be cleaned but just how HARD is it to do that?

We bought a house with a pool about 4 years ago and I initially intended to maintain it myself. Then I realized that I don't have the first ****ing clue what or how. So it turned yellowish greenish in a week or so and we had the previous owner's pool guy come fix it. My research over that time led me to the fact that he could buy chemicals so much cheaper than I could that the added cost for him to do all the work was about $15 more a month. Ain't no way I'm taking on that job to save $15/mo. It's all yours, amigo!

I remember my dad working on our pool all the time growing up. He had to use these colored drops to test and retest the water. I doubt it's as easy as most people think it is.

Hey, Agracer. I think you are in the same neighborhood as I am.

The problem started when the current President and Vice Presient got elected to the HOA board.

This guy has some issues and pretty much ran off the people who were dedicated to the neighborhood because he got an HOA notice for having a trailer in his driveway.

The man who used to take care of it did a great job, but these two guys ran him off and now they pay a company to take care of it, and of course, that company is going to do the minimal required in the contract.

Things won't get better until the current president and his side-kick get voted out.

My Mom worked like a dog keeping our pool clean and crystal clear! Its not an easy task, which I quickly discovered once I got old enough for her to delegate some of the pool cleaning duties to me!

It really isn't that hard. If you have the money for the chemicals, and the equipment upkeep it really shouldn't be that bad if you know what you are doing.

many different problems it could be. Water chemistry(ph, calcium hardness, chlorine,algae growth, ect ), could be a filter issue, could just be fixed by a simple clarifying agent, or you might have to use a Floc treatment to get all the particles suspended in the water to drop. If you have to do the Floc it will be a time consuming process.

Whoever says keeping a pool clean is hard work is an idiot. Ten minutes a week to toss out the filters and add tablets. When it warms up in the summer throw acid and shock once a week while you’re at it. Been doing this for seven years and its fine. Easier than watering and cutting the grass my pool is displacing.

Our neighborhood pool was cloudy today. You have to keep on top of it or it will get away from you due to the warm nights. Been there--done that.

Win at life. Having had a pool for 15 years it's not always easy. Besides, if I added acid I would be in a world of hurt. I had to add potash.

There could be a dead body on the bottom of the pool. There was an article once that said a body was found in a cloudy pool. Medical examiner stated the body may have been there a couple days while the pool was open and people were swimming. They just couldn't see it at the bottom.
