American football up until not too long ago?

Unless they changed the rules since the 2008 season, you can still have ties in the NFL.

I can't believe no one caught this...

There isn't a soccer player on the face of the earth that can do the things this man can. He is faster, stronger, incorporates upper AND lower boy finesse, more explosive, and hands down more skill.

I was laughing more at the poster thinking Lebron was faster than most soccer players. He looks fast on an NBA court and compared to 7ft giraffes, but he'd be left in the dust trying to keep pace on a soccer field.

Yes, because those soccer queers can run 3.8 forties. They'd make Darrell Green look like Shawn Cody.

Give me a break.

Soccer players might have the most endurance of any team sport, but they aren't in the same area code when it comes to all around athletic ability vs. football, basketball, baseball (yes, baseball), and even tennis.

False by a long shot. Cycling is a team sport and I guarantee cyclists have far more endurance than soccer players. Does that make them the "best" athletes? Not even close, but it about as ridiculous as saying soccer players are.

Cycling is a team sport like NASCAR is a team sport. Yes, I know you have the same uniform and the same sponser and you train together, but USPS doesn't win the Tour de France.

In any event, we agree on the original premise.

No, laughably wrong.

Team tactics play a huge roll in cycling, especially in the grand tours like the Tour de France. No individual rider could win it all at the pro level without his teammates. They do alot more than just "wear the same jersey".

Holy shizzle, this thread just went Mickey f'n Mouse! I'm gonna hit a cyclist with my mirror on the way home...

Any four year old can be a cyclist. Not sure they belong in the discussion. As far as sports that matter:

1. Basketball
2. Soccer
3. Hockey
4. Baseball
5. Football

I love Christine, and look forward to watching him this fall, but all these former NFL players sure are tearing up MMA, aren't they? HA HA HA

Shogun & Nogueira were very good soccer players growing up, and could have played high level in Brazil. (there are plenty of other Brazilians as well and there are quite a few American guys who did too ) I'm pretty sure Christine & 99% of football players would shat their ****ing pants at the thought of a fight to the death with those guys.

Lebron James is probably the best athlete in the world. The guy is a physical freak of nature. He's like 6'8" and 275lbs, but moves like a point guard (in both speed and quickness) with the strength of a power forward. For all intents and purposes he is unguardable one on one.

He's a guy that would be the best in the world at just about any major sport. There may never be another athlete like him.

I love soccer as much as the next person, but I've never seen an athlete in soccer like James that makes me think that. Don't get wrong world class soccer players are phenomenal athletes but there aren't any like James that transcend the sport.

Soccer players are the undisputed toughest athletes in the world. In a single game, I see several players writhing in pain from what is obviously torn ligaments, broken bones, and dislocated appendages. 99% of the time they just walk it off and get back in the game. They're super quick healers.
