I actually like Basil Hayden with ginger ale. Yes it seems like a waste, but I just honestly like that combination of flavors.

Just bought a liter of Gentleman Jack at the Duty Free shop in Laredo, crossed the border with it, and paid only $24.
Quit with all the BS about "my way or no way", everyone's taste graduates at a different level. That's a fact.
You can't just put some greenhorn with liquor straight or on the rocks if they can't even stomach the stuff that way.
It's all good as long as you can progress and enjoy it. Of course college guys are going to be looking for mixers for the most part.

seriously, for all you people complaining about mixing good whiskey with coke, shut up. The thread asked about what you like best. I've had cheap whiskey mixed with coke and it tasted like **** IMO. The best -- & coke I have ever had has been Knob Creek & coke... got way more drunk than I wanted to off that sh*t because it tasted so damn good. That's not to say that I don't enjoy Knob Creek neat either, cuz I do.

I prefer Maker's with a splash of sprite, not coke (most bars don't have caffeine free coke, so that's a rare thing to have).
Right now I am sipping some Johnny Walker Blue and Mr Pib.

Early Times...in a plastic bottle and fairly cheap, <$20 for a 1.75. Really not bad stuff.
For me, I can drink about 2-3 bourbon and cokes, then I need to switch to bourbon/water (can drink this all day with no hangover!), then on the rocks, then neat. Makers for me.

I have never mixed JWB with anything other than a few drops of water, but the latter is still up for debate.
