Lets give the originator the benefit of the doubt here. Basically there should never be bourbon whiskey mixed with coke....depressant versus stimulant = bad results. Many young people mix this drink basically because they do not really like the taste of bourbon, thus they mask it with the more traditional taste of coke. If you have to do this, I would suggest a mid level bourbon, such as Jim Beam. Certainly not Makers, Knob, Turkey, Blantons or Bookers, all bourbons that nearly any bar will carry. Crown Royal is an overpriced Canadian blended whiskey which has done a tremendous marketing campaign, with a purple bag, and a gold crown, but is still a canadian blended whiskey. If you must go this way go with Segrams or Canadian Club. The best way to drink bourbon is neat, or with ice and water, or club soda.
