Fall vacation in the US - where should we go?

Boyfriend and I aren't taking a trip this summer, but want to go somewhere this October or November. We just went to London in December, so this trip will likely need to be in the US.

We've both been to San Francisco and Chicago. Where else would be fun to go? We were thinking Boston, perhaps... thoughts?

How long is the trip? For a week or more, I recommend Boston. For a weekend, I recommend Vegas.

What kinds of things wold you want to do if you came to New England, and when would you be coming? Boston is a great tourist town, but in the fall, Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard are beautiful and the leaves are changing in western Mass and New Hampshire. There are a lot of options, and some beautiful Inns & B&B's that I would choose over almost any hotel.

Boston is a can't lose choice. If the Sox are somehow still playing you would have to try and see a game at Fenway, if not at least take a tour
