I used to think it was a BS diagnosis until I met a kid who really had it. The school my daughter went to for Asperger's also took in kids who had behavioral disorders. They were housed in a another part of the school, but we would see them from time to time. One kid was completely out of control. We're not talking about a kid who is just a brat. We're talking about 1000 times worse than that. The thing that differentiates a kid with ODD from any other bratty kid is that normal forms of discipline actually make things worse. Beating a kid with ODD is like pouring gasoline on a fire. Yes, lousy parenting contributes to it, but it's the combination of lousy parenting and the fact that the kid is a little nuts that makes him ODD instead of just your normal average brat.

lets just say that after that, he was the best behaved child and most mild mannered teenager in history. the bruises on his ass didnt go away for 3 weeks.

Work with these type of kids every day. Some are behavior correctable others are truly Oppositional Defiant and will fight any authority that is pushed on them. Very fustrating and if I knew of a certain punishment that would make them comply, I would patent it and retire. It is not as simple as the "ass whipping". I have seen that actually making it worse in some cases. Not an easy solution for a lot of these kids and that is fustrating for parents and us folks that have to deal with it.

He seriously just needs to get the SHEET beat out of him...

Knew a kid growing up who fits every description of ODD. Only thing he was ever diagnosed with was ADHD but the kid was very defiant to authority. Always in A-school, always in trouble with cops and parents. Went to prison for a year came out the same as he went in. Went to the Army and came out a whole new person. Great guy now with a good family, finishing up paratrooper training now

Then the beatings need to be more severe. Beat the little POSs into submission. Its not a "disorder" ins a effing attitude problem.

If this doesn't work. Shock treatment might.

Throw him in prison at 18 and let the other inmates break his spirit. I feel after a while he won't have too much of a problem respecting the "authorities" who control the prison yard.

One of my best friends growing up had a similar disorder. He was shot and killed by police at 25, and I fully support the police for what they had to do. Some people need to be put down like dogs.
