I don't think I'm smarter than anyone. All I do is try my hardest to succeed.

If you know you're in danger of failing a class or don't do as good as you would like on HW/Tests and if you don't make the proper adjustments beit speaking to your professor, studying more, changing your study habits, etc. it's your own damn fault.

I know plenty of people who aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer but put forth tons of effort and succeed.

And my apologies, I didn't know if you could pass with a D if they were noncore class electives or where metaphysics falls in that categorie

And I know a number of people who are at least average, study a ton, talk to profs, do all the homeworks/projects, and fail classes more than once anyway.

I still want to know where a D is passing, I want to transfer there.

Let's see, I failed organic chem and invertebrate zoology, and had a D in ichthyology before changing my major. I'm awful at memorization, and those all required lots of memory work.

4. I have used one Q-drop (bad prof in MATH 251, engr calculus III; I'm looking at a fairly easy A or B second time around) and gotten one D (AERO 211, statics and dynamics).

I would be disappointed if I didn't make an easy A if I ever retook a class. I never found them that hard the first time around. I made few Cs because of my college strategy: Don't study for the first test and play catch up if you have to. It's tough to come back from a 20 or 30 something on the first test, but I did it every time.

I always put forth the effort to make A's (I graduated with a 3.9 GPA), but sometimes there are situations that are out of your control.

I had to q-drop STAT 211 because the prof was horrible. I studied as hard as any class I ever took. When the first test came around I wasn't able to pass it because I thought I knew the material, but the test was so different from what the prof taught in the class. The prof's teaching style just didn't work with me.

My case with math 251 was similar... we were told that the problems on the exam would come straight from the homeworks, just with slight adjustments to the numbers and stuff. I had around a 95 on the homeworks, could do everything from the section of Stewart the test was supposed to be over, and didn't even recognize 4 of the 8 problems on the first exam.

I used q drops for stupid reasons (i.e. pure laziness).

Sorry, mom and dad.

My sophmore year I took Math 251 and dropped it. Next semester I took it again and made a D. Tried it again for a third time and failed it. Each time I was doing fine in the class until we got to multidimensional integrals and my brain just could not handle it. No amount of studying could get that to make sense.

Does that mean I am a complete moran or does it mean I just wasn't cut out to be an engineer? School sure got easier once I got in a major that suited me better.

my study method of just pulling a 12 hour stint before the exam showed its weakness....amazingly, it has worked for every other class since then. Unfortunately it didn't allow for many A's in the upper levels.

Jayci I'll make you feel better.. I failed POLS 207...yeah you have to just not show up to fail that...which I didn't much..and I took most of the tests on the whim that something sunk into my brain. In my defense it was my first semester here..but still..it happens...at least you failed something hard.

I certainly did not show up 80% of the time..pretty sure I only showed up for the exams..it was a summer class. Whatever.

And I graduated HS in three years, and got into A&M early decision. But wasn't ready for the freedom college offered, nor did I realize I had to actually try here to make a decent grade.

have had to use all three q-drops, already, but they were necessary with my major changes. never failed a class, though. two C's, lots of B's, and three A's.

dropped Chem 227, BioChem 410, and Math 142.

Sorry if I offended anybody and perhaps I should have used more sensitive language, but I guess I just figured if you tried your absolute hardest to avoid failing a class you could and likely excel. I stand by my original conclusion, but to each his own I suppose.

How do you fail an undergrad class? Seriously, if you go to class at least 80% of the time and take a few notes, it's nearly impossible to fail.

If you are going to fail because the subject matter is simply too hard, that's what Q-drops are for.

If you cannot pass a freshman- or sophomore-level class, then either you need to reconsider your major, or A&M made a serious mistake in admitting you.

I had a 34 average in an Econ class. I made a B.

Passing in the class was a 16.
Tom Servo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, and don't forget those engineering and science classes with their 40-point curves on every test...curves which are necessary so that 80% of the class doesn't fail and drop out.

But liberal arts is the "easy" major.

I always laughed when my engineering roommate would tell me about the 36 he got on a test, which somehow translated into a B.

I guess we can all rest assured that our roads, bridges, and high rises are 36% correct.

In the classes I failed, I thought I could pull out my grade right up to the end. It didn't happen. But that's OK, a little adversity can be a big motivator. I still was able to go back and get a master's and doctorate despite having less than stellar grades.

Lowest grade so far is one B. Damn math 302 with Hobbes.

I'm sure building a bridge is exactly like taking a test.

Would you want a doctor to operate on you if he got a 36% on his anatomy test?

It depends if he ended up making it through med school or not.

I know I sure as hell wouldn't let an English major operate on me.

I ditto the above poster, if you cant pass Math151, get out now cuz 152 is way harder.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
So far I have only made one B, everything else is an A. I will probably make a B this semester, but I have a chance at an A, the question is will I put enough effort into it to try for the A.

My only B so far has been Math 141. I am real good at math, I just make real stupid mistakes like switching numbers around, writing down the wrong numbers, just foolish mistakes and when the test is 80% Free Response, it gets you, but Math 141 has to be one of the easiest Math classes you can take.

Some of ya'll are way too hardcore. I've made A's, B's and C's and a couple of D's.

Hey Tom, not everyone learns the same, so shut your flippin overconfident pie hole.
