I am pro-libertarian and pro their social policies. It would do the country some good, methinks. Would I want a libertarian in power forever? Probably not.

I get what you are saying.

However, we are still spending tons more than we bring in, no matter how low taxes are cut.

I simply disagree with you on taxes. I don't find them a burden. I find them my obligation to be fortunate enough to live in this country and to be able to have the ability to do the things I want in life with little interference.

The higher your taxes go, the less you can do what you would like.

And, saying taxes are the price you pay to live in this country, to me, implies you don't mind giving enough to run the government. Well, I don't mind paying for a limited government either, but when nearly half of the money I earn is taken from at the threat of jail time and given to causes I do not agree with, I have a problem.

It takes money away from me that I would much rather give to other causes. You can say that I could do that anyway, but if so, you do not understand the freedom, or lack thereof, of the argument.

Also, the taxes are too high for me to save, and give, and have a life.

If you don't agree with me, you don't understand the freedom of the argument.


I love answers like this when I simply say I don't find my current taxes too high

the government already tells us how to spend our money by making certain things illegal to buy ever or at certain times.

It is just varying degrees of what you are comfortable with them telling you that you cannot buy
