Alright kids, I've got a niece who just got accepted into A&M -- she'll be a fish next year. Being the only Aggie in the family (mostly Horns and Raiders), I'm trying to give her some helpful info but I'm an old man (graduated in '92).

She and a friend want to be roommates in a dorm that has one bathroom per two students (not one per four). Recommendations?

Underwood. It has a bathroom in each room.

Haas Hall. The only all-female modular on Northside. If she is in a modular, she needs to be on Northside. If she wants co-ed, go with Neely, McFadden, or Hobby.

If she is a girl and wanting to do a sorority, then have her live Southside.

Mosher or Krueger. I think Krueger is the only all girl one now.

Wells Hall

It's a co-ed modular. Southside, great dorm.

any of the modular dorms on southside. i lived in eppright last year and loved it, but there is also wells, rudder, underwood, and appelt(i think appelt is all male though). i would definitely go with one of those.

Gotta be all girls. Boys are bad. Bad I tell ya.

I always lived off campus, so I really don't know the difference between southside and northside other than one is closer to Northgate.

If she wants a friendly, nice dorm, go with the commons (Aston Krueger or Mosher)

If she doesn't care about friendliness and wants the nicest dorm possible, modular on southside

If she wants a friendly dorm, and doesnt care about the niceness of it, go with a northside dorn

Northside is better. It's the northside dorms that keep the Aggie spirit alive.

Southside (except for the quad) is for sorrostitutes and frat daddies. Or just the wannabes...... at least, the modulars are.

The commons are good, but she would share a bathroom with three other girls.

Southside is good if you want protection of your gals using the corps. I lived in southside to get away from all the bars on northgate.

This is true, the corps turds have no game and so they are almost no thread to you taking your girl.

So if I'm comprehending correctly, one could summarize as follows:

Southside:
- more of a modular (contemporary?) style
- somewhat newer
- tends to be the choice of Greeks
- not quite as friendly
- not into the traditions as much

Northside:
- more of a traditional style
- somewhat older
- friendlier
- more into the traditions

I was an off-campus guy so bear with me.

modular refers to larger, "newer" dorms with private baths

Sharing a bathroom with 4 girls or even sharing a community bath is not as worrisome as she might think it is.

I never liked the idea before college and now I don't give a sh-

If she wants all girls, tell her to give up the shared bathroom and go to Legett. It's community style (but there's usually plenty of showers and it's cleaned daily), but it also has a kitchen and the girls there are really friendly and do a lot together. It tends to be most where most of the upperclass girls live if they stay on again--the rooms are also a lot bigger than the newer dorms.

4 girls per bathroom isn't a big deal at all. there are two sinks and you share a shower and a toilet...they are plenty big and we never had problems sharing. You also meet many more people this way

yeah you got it for the most part, modular just refers to the type of dorm though, one that has a larger room and a private bath...which northside has as well, but southside also has the commons which is a smaller room and you share your bathroom with the next door neighbors so it is suite style. and honestly i lived on southside and thought it was more than friendy and had a great time.

The modular halls, which are the one's with a private bathroom in each room, are difficult for freshman to get into. Some do, but majority do not. These are popular with upperclassmen. Your niece and her friend need to be open to any type of dorm.

In krueger we had the shower on one side and the toilet on the other. The long countertop with two sinks separates the two. The toilet is somewhat tucked away, but you can always put up a short curtain rod and shower curtain to create a "door" for privacy. The shower door is frosted so it's not like someone will be looking in.

Bathroom sharing will be the least of her worries anyway.

Living with a friend or not, it totally depends.... i had decided to live with someone new, BIG MISTAKE! but on a bright note, my suitemates have become best friends!!!!

PS: Mosher is good and very friendly, even with the guys.
