Following a post yesterday looking for a Lot C pass, was randomly contacted by this number

914-363-0097

Upon questioning; she identified herself as Mary Wilson, Class of '97.

First red flag was I haven't posted my cell on TexAgs in over 2 years as I was the victim of a scam then and have since only PM'd with paying and verified Aggies on TEXAGS. Second red flag was she said she wanted to be paid on Apple Pay and provided one email, then sent an Applepay request with another email.

When i asked for her handle on TexAgs she said it was May08, I couldn't find that one so I asked and she said Mays08; so I asked them to PM me; they said they couldn't at the moment; so I said I wouldn't pay until they PM'd me on TexAgs. That's when they advised they don't pay on TexAgs and can't PM. I googled the number and someone else on TexAgs had id'd them as a scammer.

Just a warning Ags, I lost 1,500 to a scammer a couple of years ago, and since then I don't provide my email or cell in a post and just communicate via PM and with Verified Aggies. This year I did get a couple of PM's from Sketchy individuals with no Aggie labels or posting history so I just ignored them.

They are lurking out there and just trying to take advantage of us; on the surface they know the lingo and try to act like an Aggie, but we must be vigilant. Just thought I'd share my experience and let others know what I'm doing to not get scammed.

Once again here is the information for this SCAMMER:

Thats the same phone number that scammed people last year as well.

TexAgs should have a system that highlights or tags known scammers. Especially when they are posting the same number year after year. Seems weird TexAgs isnt more proactive, but then again maybe they do more about it that isnt published.

Agreed; I honestly thing the easy solution is that only verified former students with a TexAgs account be allowed access to the Ticket Exchange. Certainly seems like that was the initial intent; and I know I have been able to get tickets on here for years for me and my family to go the games. We just live in a day and age where these individuals lurk our forum and take advantage.

Imagine how much money these sorry excused for human beings make; and that's just with us. Imagine every major College program and them doing it there. Sad that more isn't done to crack done on this. I think the easiest solution for us is to make it an only Aggies member access. Just my .02

So this guy got me a few weeks ago on an Olsen RV spot for this weekend. The giveaway is the Yonkers, New York area code. I didn't bother to check it out before Zelle-ing him $100 for the pass. He even manufactured a fake pass that almost fooled me, but he put the wrong date on it. Looks like he's still out there trying to rip good Ags off. Beware of the 914 area code!

I had a random number text me yesterday. I blocked it.

I'm very suspicious of scammers and now talk to anyone I exchange money with.

Agreed that Texags should install a rating sysem or something, because there are plenty of good people without Ag tags and that dont pay for subscription that sell tickets on here.

I don't understand why this thread or another thread be created with users adding the information provided in this post.

I had someone text when I left my cell out there and when I asked them to post, they disappeared. While I know a system such as this would not stop all scamming, it would provide a mechanism before people purchase items in this forum.

Just tried to scam me also!

A person named May08 emailed me from email address; txag4ever@gmail.com. I did not post my email in my post, so I thought it was strange at first. I also looked them up and could not find the username. I asked May08 to message me on Texags. They said they would but never did.

I know Mays08 on the board has their own email address with their username in it, so knew it wasn't them. They were selling 4 ZC tickets and said they could use Venmo or Apple Pay. Be careful!

It's not just here and college ticket boards. I got scammed out of $18,000 earlier this year in the most sophisticated bank fraud imaginable completely unrelated to ticket buying.

So many scumbags out there. I'm pretty in tune to scams or so I thought and even I got took like I was some 96 year old lady.

AgTag only forum would clean up a lot of this mess as mentioned.

Also try using the Forewarn app on someone's phone number if something seems off. It's likely they are using a burner anyway but if they aren't it may be the tip you need to halt proceedings.

Good point on the forwarn app, I haven't heard of that.

I had a scammer call me from a San Antonio area code and it even said USAA when he called. He stated I was victim of fraud. Started asking questions and I believed him until he started asking questions USAA should know.

He almost got me. I didn't know they could make the caller id say whatever they want. That plus a 210 area code almost got me.
