The play he used was I put in alpha characters my cell in reply to a legit ad and he texted me with PayPal ID and I ran with it assuming PayPal was protected. Well the terms these days on PayPal have default payments as friends family and are not protected which I did not realize.

I'm still buying the tix from the real and good ag who offered. I've also contacted wells Fargo and PayPal.

Thank for posting, @offenseguru. This person is texting me now about LSU tickets. He is claiming he is @Rootube but @Rootube didn't post the tickets. Same phone number, Richard. The convincing thing about him was he had a pic of the tickets in the 12thman app. How does that happen?

They get someone else who is selling to send them a screenshot of the tickets as proof. Then turn and use that as proof of ownership.

Hmmm..they had sent me an old screenshot (time still TBA). I asked for a current screenshot and 12 hours later, voila! That seemed pretty believable to me and I was ready to proceed...until I found the identical phone number and name posted here as a scam.

I've purchased tickets on TexAgs for the past decade.

Earlier today, I jumped on a favorable listing for tickets.

I reviewed the OP's history, all looked good.

The transaction was simple (and normal) right up to the point where communication stopped.

The critical error that I made was to offer my phone number on my return post - which I won't do again.

The person who was impersonating the seller was smooth. They've clearly done this before,

Since I never heard back from the OP, I thought that perhaps they had been hacked. I've learned this evening that was not the case. I just got scammed by a bad person who did a great job of acting like an Ag.

It's pretty simple. They didn't get hacked.

What precautions should one take when tickets offered to be sold are paper tickets and the plan is to meet prior to game with COD? If paper tickets can be transferred to digital, how do I protect myself as buyer to make sure paper tickets are legit.

Check the sellers selling history

If ticket office is open go together to verify tickets are active and weren't converted.

Only if you pay as a service and not friends and family. It costs the seller more but you can offer to pay the difference. If they say no, there's your answer.

I would vet the person - make them list first and maybe even get on the phone with them etc if too good to be true. Good chance it's a scam.

Agglarryie contacted me about NFR tickets.

He has zero other posts and a rookie tag, the area code from "his friend" is from the chicago area.

Same guy DMed me when I posted looking for South Carolina tickets for this weekend. I emailed his "friend" (same number and email he gave you) and he came back with clearly fake tickets. Tickets weren't in the Aggie allocated sections and when I called it out he just changed the row and section of the tickets he was selling. I would not buy anything from him or his "friend".

He texted me from #979-231-5106 in response to my WTB post offering 4 tickets in AC3 for $1150 each. He even provided a screenshot of the e-ticket. I asked him to respond to my post to which he responded to a random post of mine on the football board:

After further investigation, I noticed the level on the e-ticket said 1 and the section (AC3) appeared to be doctored (different font and size from the rest).

He has still refused to respond to my ticket exchange post.

Will update this post if the story changes.

Pretty sure clife8279@gmail.com is a scam as well. Email comes through as cool life. Thankfully I only did 1 to start as i was concerned it was a scam.
