The group of guys who deems it necessary to be obnoxious at tennis matches and wear stupid things needs to grow up.

I am all for cheering loudly for the ags and all, but yelling stupid stuff at the opponent and being warned by a chair ump at least once per match is rather juvenile. Not to mention yelling "overrated" at Notre Dame...y'all need to pack up and go somewhere else.

I agree, they don't even know how to do the A-G-G-I-E-S yell correctly.

I dont think those guys know anything about tennis. They are just having a good time going out there after a few drinks and yelling. Also from what a couple of the guys on the team have said they seem to like those guys, makes it fun plus it gives them a little help with mind games. I think yall need to lighten up, I bet you are the same guys who got pissed when everyone yelled stupid, stupid, stupid at pj tucker when we beat t.u. in basketball. Every sport needs some crazy fans to keep it fun, plus a warning is exactly that, NOTHING! Inless they are screwing up A&M players or costing them points I think yall both need to pull your little pink panties out of your arse and have fun, otherwise go watch something like chess where yall can be politically correct fans.

Just to let you know, Cass asked for those guys. They went to Illinois, and Virgina, and got it alot worse.

Picture 50 of those guys all yelling like crazy, and not following the rules, but the judge doing nothing about it.

I talked to John Nallon after the game, he said he loves them, they don't bother him, and he wishes we had more like them

Although we do need to teach them when to yell and when not to yell. They don't get when the point is over do they.

At first I thought they were annoying too, but if they can be taught, I think they will be great.

Kind of interesting, when other schools fans
pull that on the Ags, there is indignation at
the poor sportsmanship. When the Ags do it it's
great support.
Is that the definition of being hypocritical?
The history of Texas A&M has been avoiding
that kind of rant towards opponents and supporting
our own teams. Things change, I guess.

I have been warned by the chair judge myself on several occasions. They definately need to learn how to stop when the point is in play. And how to do the A-G-G-I-E-S yell correctly. I have no problem with loud and annoying, it is just that they are loud and annoying too often at inappropriate times.

This is the very beginning of a group that Coach Cass has wanted for a number of years. Those who remember the Jack, Brookhart, Ress and others years, remember that our fan base could be very agressive in their support of the Aggies. For whatever reason, in the last number of years the support of the students has been much less directed and not nearly as effective. After our trip East this year, the Virginia support group was awsome. 40-50 students in various stages of dress (or undress) as the case may be, who were very active throughout the match and made the Virginia home court a definite factor. Coach Cass concluded he wanted a group like that, and we are in the second week of working to make it a reality. The original goal was to have a small group ready for conference play, but things moved a little more rapidly and we were able to make a credible showing versus TCU. I hope that our stadium club supporters and other fans will stay with us while this work in progress takes place. Without a doubt some of the kids know very little about tennis, but all are friends with our players, and love the Aggies. Coach Cass plans to talk about the Mitchell Maniacs at the chalk talk Friday, and let our folks know how they can help. In the meantime whenever there is something different, people of good intentions can have different opinions. Rest assured that the only goal of this group is to support mens tennis and to have fun. Gig em.

I am all for them being loud and annoying. That's fine. There was one occasion against TCU where an A&M player had to tell them to back off and another against ND where a coach had to give them some instruction.

If they learned when to be loud and when to back down, it would be nice.

But since the players seem to like them I dont see how its your responability to tell everyone on texags why you dont like them...

Just to answer your question aggie11... I am a senior, so I guess no is the answer, I have not graduated, but I will shortly.

BTW aggie11, your the dumb arse who said john sucked and this and that. I made you a bet he would do good and now that he has I have come to run the crap back in your face. If someone bets me a friend of mine sucks and they do well, I think I have a right to dig up old crap and make fun of them. Dont be such a pathetic loser and just accept the fact I was right. And btw if you have such a problem with me I would be more than willing to settle this in person and not just talk crap from behind a keyboard. Inless you are going to stop being a fruit cake f@g and step up, stfu and accept your a little biotch.

YOu must be a senior at blinn no way in hell you go to aTm. You've have the rantings of a retard. Here are a few gems from the job network board

hahahahah...nice idiot..

Next lets see,

Rebel...good to see you are actually doing something productive instead of stealing sound equipment from the Tennis Center. Good luck with that!

So are you even allowed in the tennis center anymore???? Funny how before I even started posting on texags I heard about yours story from people in the tennis program. Dumbss

As far as being an internet tough guy you nancy boy I would never back down from your little biaacth ass..but unlike you I dont' soliciting fights over the internet..so I go to tennis matches from time to time and if your ever up in dallas shoot me an email we will see what we can do you fing retard.. I will tell you what you can bring any of your tennis friends either..Since I have a real job and I don't sell ad space in some two bit magazine it might be a while to do this.

Have a great day!!!!

JT06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The sad thing about this all is I probably make more a year working part time for my "two bit magazine" than you do at your "real job".

Second, yes I am allowed at the tennis center, that was all a load of crap, its just funny they accuse me and tell me they had a size 9 shoe kicking in the door and I wear a 12, they said they had DNA so I offered a sample of mine and they said no. I guess they realized I had worked there for a year so it could be there anyways maybe, I dont know. I offered them to search anywhere they wanted and they said no, they asked where I was that night and I have about 50 people who told them I was passed out drunk at my buddies party. They then told me thank you the stuff had been returned, kind of weird since I was like 7 hours away at a family reunion. I guess it would make sense if I teleported the stuff back, or maybe I took my rocketship... Either way it was a load of crap and I just have no want to be around cass-hole.

Can we just try getting along? I guess not.

This thread makes me want to go to more tennis matches.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Funny thread....it started out by talking about Tennis etiquette, then it went South.....

I was an avid Tennis fan when I was in school; I'm just glad to hear that people are attending games....We played Clemson once and there were more Clemson fans in that stands than aTm fans.
While we did yell.....none of us ever got Ump warnings. None of us ever wanted any of the Tennis Team's sound equipment.....actually, none of us even knew our Tennis team had sound equipment.
Aston04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Agree completely JCH. These are the same types that complain about Olsen.. A place regarded as one of the best in the nation BECAUSE of its rabid fan support. Cass wants to create that atmosphere.

And 99% of the people that come all the way out to the tennis center know tennis.. I bet almost all of those guys played high school tennis or at least played at some point..

How long do you want to ignore this user?
You know Rebel, Tim Cass can get along with just about anyone. He can even be "friendly" to the Dark Lord of Baylor when he rolls into town. The fact that he doesn't want you at the tennis center tells me all I need to know. You have to sneak in and hide so he doesn't see you. Just avoid the situation and stay away.

Also, not buying your explanation of the events around the sound equipment. I know what happened....I know the missing equipment "mysteriously" showed up at a local attorney's house with stong ties to the tennis program and he returned it to the tennis center...only to keep your sorry butt outta jail.

Anyway, I'm tired of you and all this crap you started. Go away...graduate...get outta town. This will be my last time to address you...you're not worth it anymore!

Just because other schools do it????? THAT'S now the Aggie standard?

Sad. Time was when supporting our team like crazy was enough- and was the BEST in the land.

I don't remember Aggies at Kyle supporting booing and throwing things simply because our football team has been treated horribly at venues across the country.

Be an AGGIE, dammit!

last night i was kind of embarrased about what i saw for my first match of the year for me. i think there is a way for the crowd to get in the players head, but what i saw last night was too much.
even one of our players had to go up to a guy and tell him to chill out on the heckeling.

and the spitting incident was something i haven't ever seen at A&M. that was uncalled for, thats for sure.

Question, do you like the atmosphere at Olsen? It's a more fair comparison than comparing it to a less intimate sport such as football.

Question. Do you like the behavior of these small number of fans?

To me, as an Aggie, it's an embarassment.
Aston04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Answer my question first and I'll be glad to oblige.. Have you been to Olsen? If so, what's your opinion on the atmosphere there?

(Why do people get so freaking defensive about things??)

You would think someone named "analogy Ag" would be interested in making an accurate comparison.

i think there is a big difference between baseball and tennis events. just my opinion on that.

i was at the match today against o.u. and i enjoyed it much better than friday's match, mainly because i wasn't embarrased by that group of fans.

i like to see people get into it, but this group at the tennis match pushes it way too far.

I certainly agree as well.. But I think they are more similar than say tennis and football..

Baseball's probably the closest sport on campus to tennis in regards to fan interaction.

Amen,

This is ridiculous! Cass ought to be reprimanded if he's looking for this to try and give him/team an advantage. I played tennis at OSU several years back and yes, tennis matches can get heated but this is not the right approach. My younger brother played football for the Ags not long ago and I witnessed several Aggie moments at Kyle which were special. Come on Cass get your fans aligned where they should be and allow your players to either win/lose the match on the court.

I could not agree with you anymore. These young ags just don't get what being an Ag is all about.

Aston04,
"Answer my question first and I'll be glad to oblige.. Have you been to Olsen? If so, what's your opinion on the atmosphere there?"

I can answer that question. I have been to more A&M games at Olsen field then you can ever imagine. And no, you can not even compare what happened @ the tennis center to what goes on at Olsen. Besides, the Olsen of 10 years ago and the Olsen of today are two different things. Give me Olsen of 10 years ago 24/7 365 days.
Aston04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
"Do I like the behavior of a small number of fans?"

I really can't comment in particular on these fans because I now live in Michigan, and thus have not been able to make it out for a match this year. In the end I think we should be striving for a Davis Cup type atmoshere. Anything over that, I agree is over the line.

quote:
And no, you can not even compare what happened @ the tennis center to what goes on at Olsen.
But you can compare what happens at Kyle Field and the tennis center? Interesting.

The point is that where the team goes and plays, their fans are nuts. And unfortunately do get in the players heads. If you dont like what the Mitchell Maniacs do, then why dont you go to a match and try to cheer a little louder and longer. We do have a great crowd, and the attendance is outstanding. But the crowd is asleep. It needs to be louder and more consistent. Not just clap after a shot and say "YEAH!" every so often. Im seeing people study in the stands!
If our players go to other schools and get mangled by other crowds, why not extend them the same courtesy?
IL-Ag 04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
well what i heard from the mitchell maniacs or whatever they are called this past friday was uncalled for. bashing a player because he can't speak english and is from a third world country, etc. thats too much for me. i like the fact that we have a lot of American's on the team, but i dont get upset when people from other countries are playing. it's not their fault that they are from a different country.
Aston04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
^Don't totally agree... Especially in men's tennis, foreigners are coming in here and taking about 1/2 the available scholarships. A little ribbing seems ok to me.. Of course there's a line though not to cross..

Felipe Diaz from OSU is EXTREMELY capable of speakin the english language, but he chose to use his native tongue in order to address the fans.
