Happy Valentines Day my track friends!! There is nothing more romantic than collegiate track and field. There is nothing more romantic than sitting with your special someone and watching your Aggie track team compete in their toughest competition of the year this weekend. If your significant other disagrees, then they're not the one for you!
Our Aggie track and field will travel to Clemson to compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational with a LOADED field full of sec teams, some other top talent, and professionals. Not only will we be pushed by some of the top collegians in the country, but some of the best athletes in the world. Athletes signed by Nike, Adidas, Olympians, Bowerman winners, national champions. Aggie National Champion Will Williams will be jumping as well! The added competition is great, but it also knocks down our runners down some heats!
However, we'll get to see our team at full strength this weekend! We'll have our 400 army ready to go, Auhmad Robinson, Hossam Hatib, Antonie Nortje, and Cutler Zamzow. Let's hope they can improve their 400 times! We'll have Jaqualon Scott in the 60 hurdles, we'll have Sam Whitmarsh in a great 800 field! Aleksandr Solovev in the pole vault, our long jumpers (aside from John Baker), and Gavin Champ in the triple! We won't see Cawthra either! But still it's a loaded guys squad and in my opinion track is a team sport and an important aspect is teams feed off each other, one amazing performance can be contagious, so let's see how we all do together!
On the women's side, we won't have our strongest squad running as some will be seeing a break! But I want to see how Jaiya Covington will look in a more stacked field! Along with Winny Bii in a stacked triple jump field and Heather Abadie in an elite pole vault competition! We'll have a great womens mile race led by Debora Cherono as well!
This will be the meet to chase big PR's and fight for top 16 spots! Let's see how we fare. Elite competition brings out elite competitors!! Let's see who rises to the top!!! What other way is there to spend Valentines Day weekend!!! PR's are my love language!
