If your interests include, watching 18-23 year olds running around from 8-25 laps around an oval 200 meter track, then keep reading! Over in Boston Massachusetts, our Texas A&M Aggie Distance runners will be competing in a distance festival this weekend. Olympians, NCAA Champions, and every one and their momma will be racing in this meet.
There are over 300 athletes signed up for the men's mile alone. Among all those runners are our very own mile record holder Cooper Cawthra, Luca Santorum, Gilbert Rono, and Diego Heredia. Then we will have TexAgs' own Jonathan Chung as well as Jack Johnston in the 5000. Zack Munger was registered in the 5000, but his name isn't there anymore.
On the women's side, we'll have our school record holder Debora Cherono in the mile, as well as Elise Smoot. In the 5000, Kennady Fontenot, Megan Roberts, and Maddie Livingston are listed. These women races are packed with elite talent including Olympians, Courtney Wayment, Nikki Hiltz, Elise Cranny, Whittni Morgan, Gabi Jennings, Amaris Tynnisma, Anna Camp-Bennet, and so many more. All 3 5000 meter runners are placed in the same heat!
At a meet like this, there's one goal and one goal only, to PR. These meets are set up to have many Pr's on the distance side! The competition is fierce, the talent is everywhere, now it's all about honest pacing, followed by PR's. I'm really excited for these mile races!
