No one is happy about losing game 1. But let's not pretend that it's over either. It's ok to be disappointed we didn't get more bounces but also be a bit relieved that we played a much sharper game.

No time to panic yet but I do think game 2 is a must win just to end this stupid winless streak.

Time enough to cool off. Boring snooze fest of a game. They'll bounce back. Been here since '98 when I was a wee little lad watching peak stars.

Garcia had a great walk off this evening at least.

No doubt. Game 2 is critical

I wish I could go back to those glory days from 97 to 01, after graduating from A&M with full season tickets with my buddies and nothing to focus on other than the Stars. Those were some great times.

Yep. My family just missed the championship year. We had season tickets for the prior 4 seasons, but my sister was born in the summer of 98, so my parents dropped them that year. I remember a lot of Stars/Oilers playoff games as a kid.
The game was certainly different back then.

They are 4-3 in the previous series where they lost Game 1. Two were Conference Finals and the other was the crazy Game 7 in Calgary where Otter stood in his head and made over 60 saves in the game. It's definitely not over but it is frustrating that it keeps happening, especially on home ice. 5 of the 7 were on home ice.
Robo and Miro being out certainly hurts chances at coming back but Blackwood has no postseason experience before tonight. It's a whole different animal and the Stars have to do a better job of consistent, sustained pressure to see if he cracks. He wasn't tidy tonight but did just enough to keep the Stars out

I was playing little league at the time. The superbowl runs for the 90s cowboys were at an end, this was pre-dirk mavs, and the rangers were so-so. The Stars were still the shiny new object in town and I remember a lot of the adults would wear those goofy radio headphones to our baseball games listening to stars updates.

This was pre 9/11 too. School was out, cicadas were chirping something crazy. You could practically write a book about how great that time period was. Before I get a bit too gushy, let's win game two mother effers.

Yeah I'm pretty encouraged with what we did last night even though during the game I was annoyed with the goals that went in. We really didn't let MacKinnon or Makar beat us last night, for the most part. I do think we need one of our guys (hello Wyatt Johnston, Rananten and Harley) to impose themselves on the game more. I actually thought Rantanen was pretty good last night too.

I don't know much of the ins and outs of hockey. Positioning, alignments, etc. I did think the power play was really good and had some good looks. However, their net minder was what we need ours to be. Yes their goals were flukey but it's the playoffs and we need Otter to be THAT DUDE. Get after it Monday night.

I think they need to just pepper Blackwood with shots from anywhere and everywhere. He's not a goal-tender imo where he can face 30+ shots and not give up 4+ goals.

Agreed. It also seemed like we didn't often have sustained some time.

How was the atmosphere AAC last night? At times on TV i thought the crowd was a little subdued and uneasy last night.

I, too, was subdued and uneasy!

we outplayed them, they scored 2 fluke goals and an empty netter and their goalie stood on his head (and had at least 3 saves he knew nothing about)
defense looked drastically improved from the end stretch of regular season

Loud to start. 1st period everyone seemed nervous but ready to explode (opportunity never came). 2nd period took the wind out of the sails. 3rd period goal and close calls were very loud. Then everyone started bailing after they went up 3-1, 4-1.

Ticket prices are way down for game 2. I think a lot of fans are discouraged.

Stankoven has two goals already today against the Devils. He seems to feel very comfortable in Carolina.

Yeah he fits what they want to do to a T. Almost a match made in heaven from a style perspective.

Don't know if anybody is watching but I had a bet on MIN +1.5

That's a new exciting way to lose

Heiskanen was a more active participant in morning skate, but still not ready.

Blackwell is likely in for Bourque which is a little odd. I think Bourque looked pretty good Saturday. Prevailing thought is Blackwell will be more active in driving the net. What do I know?

Typical Benn-led Stars team. Coming out flat and stepping on their own dicks in Game 1s...

What ****ing game are you watching? This is the best the Stars have played in weeks. Two total fluke goals against and a goalie on the other side making stupid saves.

Best they've played in weeks and they're about to lose #8 in row...

And I'm sure you're ecstatic now after 2 more goals from Colorado, so you can crow to your "friends" on how you are so right that the Stars suck and they won't win a game on the playoffs.

Blackwell is also great on the PK and we can't stay out of the box.

Landeskog has been activated off of LTIR. I bet he plays sparingly for a bit.

Good couple of articles on DMN about Gaglardi, the Stars overall and what the future looks like regarding a the building they are in now.

Thanks for posting this. I always check the DMN with my morning coffee and didn't see these articles.

Surprises me that they are quoted as saying their #1 choice would be to stay in the AAC.

That would be my number 1 choice as I love it and think it is a great location, but all rumors I had heard was that they were wanting a new arena in Frisco.

Would be interesting to see Mavs vs Stars - if both arenas are in close proximity to each other (including Irving on that list as I assume that is where Mavs will go)

My family has been longtime Stars and Mavs ticket holders, as well as my company with a suite at AAC. You got to think if there are two arenas, then they will cannibalize each other a bit. Maybe not on the regular seats, but on the suites for sure.

Friend who works with the Stars told me last year that the Friso rumors are false.

Where's the juice in this thread? We're back at it in 15 minutes and I have an oddly good feeling we're going to have our hair on fire tonight.

I changed up my sweater for tonight since the winter classic one did not bring us luck. Wearing the game worn Radulov white reverse retro tonight!

So in the MTL@WAS game, there was a situation similar to the MacKinnon penalty. Not called on the ice immediately, but the refs got together and assessed a double minor for high sticking. Then they could review it. In this case it was on the follow-through so no penalty. I get it but don't like it. Refs need to call it right away or not at all.
