Eric Casarez went out and went for it, but this 5000 was just extremely stacked! This was probably the last race for Casarez's Aggie career and I just wanted to give him a huge shout out like I did after cross country! Eric has been a perfect representative for Texas A&M his entire career and we are lucky we always had him to rely on!! That guy has led our cross country and distance team for so long, it's going to be really hard to see what our distance crew looks like without him! That will be some major shoes to fill, but it likely won't be possible! He is a multiple time cross country national qualifier, he's our 5000 meter record holder! For a long time we haven't been known for our distance crew often over shadowed by our sprints and mid distance, but that's changing now and a huge part of that is because of the foundation Eric and others have laid! Thank you for everything Eric! And btw check out his podcast "RickSix" it's some good stuff!!!
Same goes for Connor Schulman, that guy walked on after covid took his senior year of high school! With only a 14.27 PR he walked on and he put in the work like no other! Raising the hurdles and 4 years later, he's nearly an entire second faster! Connor Schulman has carried this hurdle group and has been a great leader for this track team and is what a true Aggie is supposed to be!! I think this was the last of his eligibility (I hope I'm wrong) but this was not the way he was suppose to go out! He is one of the nations best hurdler and will be one A&M's greatest hurdlers to wear the maroon and white! Thank you for everything Connor Schulman!

What happened in the hurdles. What did we ask to review? I saw him fall early but broadcast never stated anything.
Texas State runner "impeded" Connor was the protest. My understanding is that one official agreed but another disagreed. I was trying to listen over the crowd to one of our coaches explain it.

I haven't crunched the numbers, but to me these are the teams fighting for a shot at the national title! To me it'll be close, but I think Alabama could be the favorites! Texas and Florida have the most in, but a lot of them barely squeezed in! Alabama has a few guys in but they're all highly ranked! Arkansas can win two of the jumps and has Lance Lang sprinting as well as a few multis! Florida has a couple sprinters mixed with field events, and LSU has some sprinters and should win the 4x100
Our path to the title runs through our 800 group! We have to get as many as we can into that final and score more than 15 in that event! We will also need points in the 400, and Jaqualon Scott to get on the podium in the 100 hurdles and hopefully score in the 400 hurdles as well as Bryce McCray, but that event is loaded! Victor Kibiego winning the steeple would be legendary and really help us! Sam Hankins hasn't been himself lately but he showed up at this meet last year, so let's hope he can get healthy fast! Then it may all come down to the 4x400… we will need a lot of parity in the sprints and have these teams beat each other up and split the pie! We need Bama to lose points in the 10k, Florida and LsU to not go big in the field events, and Arkansas' multis to slip up and for them to struggle in the field events! It's gonna be close, but as Pat Henry says "we all need to have the best day on the same day"

We could've really used some more points in the 110 hurdles from Connor Schulman, and some high jump points from Ushan Perera if he was healthy, and Carter Bajoit if he could magically jump 7'4 again
