The number one player in the country playing 2 hahahah. Love it. I don't love Carson at 1…but she is playing better than last year so….nicole at 3…will she be able to play above lesser opponents, same with mia at 4? This is insane. In a good way.

Genuinely do not know...why is this up for a vote to the other coaches?

They protested her being at 3, then it goes up for a vote.

So they can unanimously vote to set our lineup? Mary is the #1 play in the country LOL

After a protest, basically yes.

Will that hold for NCAAs or will there be a separate protest to figure out what line they play there?

Well that wasn't the plan but I still like Carson's chances. The girl I see giving her the most trouble would be Gailis from UF. She's so athletic and can make you hit a lot of balls. However, Mark said that Carson is moving the best he's ever seen her move so I like her still with any match up.

When it comes to the NCAA, all of the bias and politics go out the window. the SEC coaches are looking for a way to beat us now, they think Carson at 1 is the best way to do that. The NCAA does not care, they will look at the facts, Mary is the undisputed #1 player in the country and I believe the NCAA will not force her to play lower than 1. We have to wait to see, but I think it'll be a different story with the NCAAs

Crowley was 39-1 last year before losing to Diana Shnaider in the ACC tournament championship match and played #2 in the playoffs.

That's exactly what I was talking anbout earlier. UNC did this exact same thing last year with Crawley. Actually, he tried it several places up and down the roster for NCAAs. 2 of the spots further down the lineup were made to flip but they allowed Crawley to play 2.

Although I expect Mary and Nicole to adapt, and you would think we are at an advantage, this won't be easy for them. It's easier to play and win against players that you've already beaten than to come up against somebody knew with nothing to lose going after you. I think they will handle it fine but it won't be a cake walk.

I think they will dominate whoever they play at a spot lower because they will be the better player. Mary at 2 and Nicole at 3 is a great spot for us.

i also think we would win the doubles point against at least 90% of teams with the new line up. that said we would only need to find 3 wins with carson, mary nichole and mia being our top 4. that's a recipe for success, not to mention lulu and jennette are playing their best tennis and just got pushed a spot down.

They had played said players for the first time and beat them. They can do the same with other first time opponents. Yeah...they will be fine...Im just sooo excited for the NCAA's. This could be the year.

I can't wait to watch on Friday. Expect some early nerves and then focused domination.

Singles lineup was turned in with Carson at 3 because that is where they were told to put her.

Who told them to put Carson at #3?

She should have been #2 in the initial lineup. That could have been justified with Mary but putting her at #3, I never felt we could justify.

Hope this fires up the team and we dominate the SEC tourney.

It is hard to comprehend that the number one player in the nation was unanimously put at number two on the same team, but according to the UTR this is the accurate lineup. Don't really understand why this is such a big deal. Never heard of such bother or worry about the lineup in any sport. More controversial than who the starting quarterback should be for the Aggies.

Stacking can be a big problem in team tennis if not properly monitored.

Reality is, we have three #1s on the same team. Lucky us.

I personally think if a coach wants to stack, let them stack. Turn in your stacked roster the day before, allow the opposing coach the ability to update his roster based on what he sees and see what happens. This is only a problem bc most colleges can only recruit 2-3 great players so they try to make it fair.

TCU'a win was overturned today in their tournament. I'm glad the SEC has settled the lineups beforehand. ANY lineup we could have is stacked.

Quote:

STILLWATER, Okla. Following the first-round conference match against Kansas State in the Big 12 Championships on Wednesday afternoon at Michael & Anne Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla., Kansas State submitted a protest of TCU's lineup. The Championship's Games Committee has ruled to uphold Kansas State's protest and overturn the match result. With this decision, the doubles point will be awarded to Kansas State resulting in a 4-3 win for Kansas State.

The committee's decision was determined based on overwhelming evidence that TCU's doubles lineup was in clear violation of ITA Rule I.D.3 Players must play in order of ability once a direct line substitution was made prior to the match. Once the substitution was made at #2 doubles, per ITA Rule I.D.7 doubles pairs "must be reordered to reflect strength".

Per ITA rule I.D.10, no appeals to this decision are permitted.

This rule is absolute BS. Apparently, now TCU falls below the supposed cut line and will not make the tournament. With the win, it put them in the tournament. Would have been their first NCAA tournament invite since 2017. Post match appeals are just ridiculous. Big titty baby energy.

Two overturned lineups in the last two weeks costing each team to lose the overall dual match.

I very much agree that post match appeals shouldnt be a thing, especially when line ups have to be submitted for the entire tournament. At least the SEC got that right.

Now, I have zero knowledge of TCUs team and I am curious how egregious the stack was.

Best to be proactive and do the right thing and not jeopardize the situation.

Ok based on what I'm reading, the rosters were submitted before the match; however, Kansas State stated they would play the match under appeal and challenge the outcome. The only thing that was done roster wise from what I can see, was replace one half of a doubles team with another player. They didn't move doubles lines up or down. This same doubles line up was played the week before vs OU.

Some weird moderation activity overnight. I know the obsessed rookie was back but other innocuous replies got nuked for some reason too. Lame.

The substitution was on TCU's doubles #2, so I guess the argument is that #3 should have moved up. Their #3 doubles pair had been playing together in that position since March 9th and neither had played doubles #1 or #2 all season. They won in a 7-5 tiebreaker which was forfeited.

Court Results:
6-1
4-6 - forfeit
7-6(5) - forfeit

As much as it sucks, they probably should have reordered their doubles lineups. It's an obvious stack, but the fact that they didn't make them change the order BEFORE the match is ridiculous.

I just don't see anything wrong with it. Kansas State should have been allowed to update their doubles line before the match. Idk. Slippery slope but this has happened all season. When we played Miami Alexa Noel (UTR 11.44) played line 3 doubles against us. Come on. Although she has been playing there all season. I guess what they are saying is that if you're try and stack the lineup it's fine as long as you do it from the beginning of the season and we all know about it lol

I'm sure there are very valid reasons for the rules. My complaint is that it happens all season and coaches seem to pick and choose when they protest. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes to these rules.
