After accidentally starting to fill her name in the University box on her LOI (probably), Mia Mack has decided to transfer from Miami to San Diego. The not-really sad part here is that because Jayci is gone there is no way to know which doubles is better Mia/Goldsmith vs Mia/Goldsmith . (Or if we could go back in time a little further, Goldsmith/McBryde vs Goldsmith/McBride)
Possible Lineup: (Last year's result)
Claudia De Las Heras Armenteras (Mary was winning 4-6, 6-3, 4-3)
Mia Mack (Daria won 7-5, 6-4)
Abigail Desiatnikov (Mia won 6-3, 3-6, 6-2)
Elizabeth Goldsmith (Salma was winning 2-6, 6-4, 3-2)
Kailey Evans (Jayci was breaking her 6-2, 5-7, 3-3)
Jordyn McBride (Daria won 7-5, 6-3)
USD is missing their No 1 player from last year and will likely get some action in doubles from at least one non-singles player.

Yup. She did go ahead and got her A&M degree and then moved on.
Yesterday USD's doubles #1 Elizabeth Goldsmith/Mia Mack (Mia/Goldsmith) went up 5-0 at before not finishing 5-2 against Stanford's Angelica Blake/Alexis Blokhina. Stanford won courts No. 2 and 3 doubles both at 6-4. Aint going to be easy for M&M.
In singles USD only won on courts 5 and 6, but those third set scores:

I had the same reaction. Hui is a 11.24 UTR, higher than Khirin, playing #5. She lost a tight one so maybe coming back from injury or illness.

Horrible start. Almost like the team is shaken from Mary getting injured (pure speculation). We have the talent at the top to come back, but it won't be easy. Need Nicole and Mia and then one of 5 and 6. On paper their top 4 doesn't match ours when we have Mary.
Last year we started with Jayci playing #5 and today Jeanette is playing #4. Significant drop off.
Nicole was up 5-1 on line 1 and lost 8 games in a row.

I think we win that match if Mary is out there playing #1, but this match completely exposed our weaknesses.
Hopefully, Mary is well and will be in lineup tomorrow and we will have better idea. That was not a good singles lineup.

I only got to catch the tail end of the 3rd sets of Ellie Pittman and it was rough. With Mary, I think this is a 6- 1 win. Surprised to see Daria below Jeanette. The results seemed to prove it was questionable. Curious to see what tomorrow holds
All that mattered to me was winning the overall duel match. I want everyone to win and get good enough to play number #1. Thats part of why my nickname on the team is "mom". I want my gals to be winners and to always improve on and off the court. Lineup really doesn't define level or talent in translation to professional tennis. There's been top 5 players in the nation who could never make it past 800 WTA, there have been players who played lower and are now making it. I was 400 before college, 200 in doubles, made a WTA tour final, and already won two futures in November without hardly training due to the process of my hip recovery. I never played a full season of tennis in my life because of injuries that were completely out of my control. It was a hard decision to make, but I know I'm ready for the big leagues. My game style, mind, and body say so. I'll be taking my maroon with me around the globe. I love my Aggies and wouldn't have been here without them. GIG EM
