Also heartbreaking to hear but looks like Donovan Brazier won't be racing this meet or at all this year! Hope the former World Champ rests up for a shot at Paris

Added to the list is Devin Dixon! Will always be one of one my Aggie favorites! Hope he is healthy and ready to run well!

Shaina Burns is also entered in the heptathlon.

Interesting that Fred Kerley will run the 200m but not the 100m. I assume that is because he gets a bye into the WC. Glad to see that Connor Schulman is entered in the 110 hurdles.

2023 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships

Annie Kunz in 6th and Shaina Burns in 12th after the first event in the heptathlon.

Annie Kunz was 6th in the heptathlon high jump and Shaina Burns was 9th. After 2 events Annie is in 6th place and Shaina in 12th. Expect both to move up in the shot put since they are pretty good in that event.

Annie was 1st in the shot put, 2 feet better than the runner-up, and Shaina was 4th. After 3 events Annie is in 4th place and Shaina in 9th.

After day 1 Annie is in 4th place, 55 points out of 3rd. Shaina Burns is in 9th place.

Deadmon with a 9.91 on the backstretch en route to qualifying for the 400m semi's at 45.12 (third-fastest qualifying time)
The only sub-10 split of any 400m runner

Natosha Rogers is also entered in the 10,000m

Same can be said about Athing running the 1500m and not the 800m

To make the WC, she not only has to finish in the top 3, she needs to meet the WC qualifying standard - 6480 pts. That means she needs to be near her personal bests in all three events tomorrow. Good luck, Annie.

On the World Athletics site the max number of entries in the heptathlon in Budapest is 24. I don't think 24 have made the qualifying standard and it looks like only Anna Hall from the US has made it so far. After that, I think they go by world rankings and Annie did not compete in 2022 so she dropped off that list. Annie made the Worlds in 2019 by having the most heptathlon points in the world that year.
Natosha Rogers needs to go to Europe and find a fast race to meet the standard of 30:40 before July 30.

Rogers is currently ranked 23rd in the 10,000 world rankings with 1238 points. The US athletes ranked ahead of her are Schweizer, Monson, and Fiona O'Keefe. Not sure if the USA meet results are included in the rankings. Does this make her "safe" for Worlds?

I don't think so. Karissa Schweizer, who finished 5th, has met the World standard so she would go instead of Rogers. Rogers ran a 30:49 on March 4 so she missed the standard by 9 seconds.

Unfortunately for Rogers, it will be difficult to find a fast 10k race over the next few weeks. I don't believe the next two Diamond League races have a women's 10k race.
Worth noting that A&M-linked athletes had a solid first day of the meet.

I thought it was the world standard OR the world ranking? I thought that was why they implemented the world ranking system a few years back.

I could be wrong since USATF seems to be so opaque on their selection criteria.

I think if not enough athletes have met the standard then they go to the world ranking in that event to fill out the field. Annie was ranked 5th in the world after the Olympics but she did not compete in 2022. She has the 7th best score this year in the world but is not ranked yet. Not sure how many competitions it takes to get ranked.

Is USATF trying to destroy the sport? Their website says the meet is being streamed on USATF.tv but it won't let me log in to the account I created yesterday.

Annie with a Personal Best in the javelin at 153 feet, 9 feet more than Anna Hall. She is in 4th place 7 points out of 3rd. Shaina Burns in 8th place.

Annie needs to beat Cheri Hawkins by half a second in the 800

Talk about drama. Kunz has a slightly better PB and Hawkins hasn't run her best this season -- should be exciting.

Annie beats Hawkins in the 800 by .23 seconds and is 4th overall by 4 points.

Rogers is still hoping to be considered for the 10,000m according to her interview
