It is based on your placing in the quarter final rounds and has nothing to do with your Personal Best or Season Bests times
Heat assignments for the semi-final round will be determined by a competitors finish in the
quarter-final round at each First Round Site of the Championships. Rule 15-11.2c and Rule 15-
11.3.b.
The six (6) first place finishers from the quarter-final round at the First Round Sites of the
Championships, will be drawn by lot into one of three (3) semi-final round heats at the Final
Championships Site, with two (2) first place finishers assigned to each of the three (3) semifinal round heats.
The six (6) second place finishers from the quarter-final round at the First Round Sites of the
Championships, will be drawn by lot into one of three (3) semi-final round heats at the Final
Championships Site, with two (2) second place finishers assigned to each of the three (3)
semi-final round heats.
The six (6) third place finishers from the quarter-final round at the First Round Sites of the
Championships, will be drawn by lot into one of three (3) semi-final round heats at the Final
Championships Site, with two (2) third place finishers assigned to each of the three (3) semifinal round heats.
The three (3) next best time advancers from the quarter-final round at each First Round Site of
the Championships, will be combined together and drawn by lot into one of three (3) semi-final
round heats at the Final Championships Site, with two (2) of the six (6) next best time
advancers assigned to each of the three (3) semi-final round heats.
Heat order will be drawn by lot
Lane assignments for the semi-final round will be drawn by lot among like place finishers
and/or advancers assigned to a semi-final round heat.
The two (2) first place finishers from the quarter-final round assigned to a heat of the semi-final
round, will be assigned to the first (1st) and second (2nd) most preferred lanes. Those two
lanes will be five (5) and six (6).
The two (2) second place finishers from the quarter-final round assigned to a heat of the semifinal round, will be assigned to the third (3rd) and fourth (4th) most preferred lanes. Those two

lanes will be four (4) and seven (7).

The two (2) third place finishers from the quarter-final round assigned to a heat of the semifinal round, will be assigned to the fifth (5th) and sixth (6th) most preferred lanes. Those two
lanes will be three (3) and eight (8).
The two (2) next best time advancers from the quarter-final round assigned to a heat of the
semi-final round, will be assigned to the seventh (7th) and eighth (8th) most preferred lanes.
Those two lanes will be two (2) and nine (9).
