He did not appear to be injured. He had a big lead on the field, got to the 600 mark and ran off the track. It was weird. It looked like he could have had a nice time..
At last week interview Pat Henry said they wanted Whitmarsh to run 600m but he felt good and ran the full 800m in 1:48. So I guess this week they went ahead with the plan of him running a fast 600m and quitting
Whitmarsh was also moved from the fastest heat (heat 3) to the slowest heat (heat 1)
