Thanks, and you actually bring up some good points. The girl who won the 800 is a freshman who dropped a 7+ second PR and ran the fastest 6A time in the state this year. She did not run XC. It was too hard for her, lol. Sweet girl - we talked to her a bit. She was beaming, and rightfully so.
My question may be a psychological one as much as anything. Is is better to keep grinding the next few meets and try to shave half a second here and there, or would it be better to focus on the process, cluster a few more times around the PR, and "save" the breakout effort for regionals? Region 3 is absolutely stacked. Sub 2:13 might not get a wild card, but she has to probably get there to give herself a chance. Unfortunately Texas Relays doesn't have an 800...yes, there's a relay, but it's almost impossible to run a PR in a relay. At least she won't get boxed in, though.
