Happy for Jermaisha finishing all-american at 400m. She will run 50.? outdoors. Happy for our soft spoken yet very well educated Kennedy Wade. Great run!. Jermaisha will have to learn to run with these gals. She has got to let go and go outta body experience. The hype of the race should have had her go faster with those legs. Great things ahead!!!
Chris Johnson won that championship for Arkansas. They only got 8 pts from distance in the DMR. I will have to check distance pts but they were great!!!!
My list for Bowerman sprint Coaching Award candidates would goto: Chris Johnson, JJ Clark, Carol Gilbert. Phenomenal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn I wish we could have gotten Chris but Ark antied up with the head coach surety before Henry could steal him away. That would have been an historical steal and game changer for A&M.
Unless we get some sprint coaching on this level for our short sprinters we may not be able to compete. We have some good male sprinters coming in but good sprint coaching can do way more than talent.
Happy for the sport of women's track and field. This was a world class meet we saw with unprecedented talent unseen before on Earth that we witnessed. New Age and time in track and field. Women running about 20- 21mph! Damn 20.68 mph avg speed for Julien Alfred. Wow baby!!!!!!!!!!! We won't be on Earth but we are on our way to seeing moped times from human beings on both the men's and women's. Give it another 20 -30 years and 25 mph might be the standard for women.
lol- well i might not be on the Earth but you guys will see it!
Agreed. All our sprinting records are still standing from many years ago. We have shown absolutely no improvement in sprinting for the last 5 years or so.
As phenomenal as our records are - those girls from those records, though Stallions of their day, could not hold water against today's competition. Most schools from all over the country have athletes running comparable times as they did at A&M.
This is a new age in track and field! Can you imagine a Porscha Lucas & Simone Facey running in their prime today with Vince Anderson coaching and they still not make the finals. Amazing time for track and field.
Agreed. We are definitely in a new age of track and field. Currently we are stuck in the old age.
Being a world championship year. I am wondering if Alfred will consider going pro now and concentrate on the World Championship. I guess Flo will make her run outdoors to win a championship and also break 100, 200 and 4x100 outdoor records
Whittaker ran a mile in addition to the 800 prelim yesterday. It's a miracle she beat a rested Rose.
Very impressed with Whittaker though…2 800s, a mile and a 400 leg all within about 24 hours. Her and Willis earned them a team trophy nearly by themselves.
we probably made an attempt to recruit some top talent but probably lost out to the other dogs due to NIL.
State laws make it harder for Texas schools to recruit some athletes compared to other states where coaches are allowed to directly approach athletes.
I know that Chris Johnson has already made a pitch concerning Camryn Dickson. We gotta do something yet stay within our state regulations with limited schollies.
If Whitmarsh were healthy I think we get 6pts; Bryce - 2pts; no broken spike 5pt 400m; a more focused/healthy Perera - 6 more pts; 4x400 5pts 6+2+5+6+5= 24pts +4that we got = 28pts to tie for 6th place. Not bad result. Injuries barred we could very well be a top 6 or better team as those were modest pts
I am indeed excite about next year indoors as I think we will have a more balanced men's team and be hosting either conference or NCs. Will be very exciting. I expect us to be a top 5 team or possibly top 3 next year if things go well.
Issam will score in the 60, we will have experienced 400 runners, healthy 800 runners God willing, Ushan Perera back, maybe one of the multis takes a big jump, the new foreign transfer can bolster our DMR, Connor can hopefully improve in the hurdles! I just wish we had a horizontal jumper!!
