Very sad to see no boxing thread on the other sports page. Any fellow enthusiasts of the sweet science want to talk shop?

Kind of a lull for the next month or so with nothing major that catches my eye, don't get me wrong there are a few solid bouts, Wood vs Lara tomorrow should be good; as will watching Jerrell Miller and Lucas Browne pound on each other for 4 rounds top with a Jono Carroll co-main.

I've got tickets to see Caleb Plant vs David Benavidez in Vegas at the end of next month; that should be an absolute banger. Watching Plant demolish Dirrell and Benavidez end the career of Lemieux shows that this is going to be something special; can't wait.

That's the only fight that sounds interesting right now...Plant vs Benavidez, I know there's bad blood between both of them but I don't even know why. Who you got winning this one? I think Benavidez will beat him by majority decision.

Also, you think that Fury vs Paul fight gonna happen?? I feel like something is gonna happen last minute and its going to be called off. Hahah

I think Fury has to go forward with it now, he's already ducked Paul twice and I don't think he recovers if he does it again. I think Paul wins this one pretty easy to be honest; Fury has not impressed me in the least. If you're a young and in shape millionaire who has time to burn and a passion for boxing, you can afford the best training and the time to train, so while I don't think Paul is any great boxer, I think he is decent, and has a decent amount of power.

I'm also going to take Benavidez because he's a destroyer; yes Caleb Plant had an awesome KO of Dirrell but he's more of a stick and move guy; Benavidez is a gigantic middle weight and I think he punishes Plant.

I agree, Paul is definitely getting better and I'm glad he's actually fighting a "real" boxer now. He looked a little gassed against Silva in those late rounds though. It'll be interesting fight.

Just finished watching the fight, was at church when it came on. Good exciting fight, terrible referee choice, I've never liked Hector Afu, and he's not the guy you need in there for a bunch of near-amateur boxers.

Fury needs to hang them up after the rematch, he'll probably make $10,000,000 from this fight and the next, and he can go ride off and do soap operas. He's got pillow hands. He hit Paul with over a dozen clean power shots and Paul never once got staggered. After 9 fights of nobodies, he should have had a hell of a lot more than 4 knockouts, and it shows that while he does throw text book punches, they have no power.

Jake Paul on the other hand desperately needs to learn defense and how to pair combinations together. He has power, he has a decent gas tank, but he's not going to be able to wing overhand rights and fell dudes who aren't washed up and in their 40's and 50's, he needs more in his repertoire.

Agreed. If he knew how to put combinations together that fight wouldn't have been close.

If he really does take training as seriously as people say I imagine those are the two things he will spend a lot of time working on between now and their next fight. He said in an interview that defense has been a big priority for him. He just hasn't been a boxer for very long.

Also agreed about Tommy Fury. The camera zoomed in on him at I think the beginning of the 4th round and he looked very surprised. He won because he has been doing this longer and knew how to out box Paul as the fight went on.

All in all the fight as entertaining and the kind of publicity that it brought to the sport is good. Say what you want about Jake Paul, he knows how to sell the event. When they fight again I hope my guy Diego Pacheco gets a spot on the undercard.

I agree, Jake Paul seems to actually really care about boxing and actually be trying to do something in the sport. I do not like the other "influencer" boxing matches which are absolutely idiotic, but Paul is getting boxing back into the public eye, and that's a good thing, as we've got some great superstars and also some great up and comers.

I watched Diego Pacheco fight on the undercard of Ruiz-Joshua II in KSA, I think he KO'd a Saudi National in his fight.

I think it was an ok fight. You could really tell the difference between a "boxer" like Fury and Paul. You could see Paul's punches coming a mile a way, but like it was stated before Fury got him with some good shots and good combos but has no power. I do think Paul did gas out towards the later rounds and has really good power. I would like to see him change trainers cus I don't think his defense has gotten better at all. If he really is serious about boxing (which I think he is) he needs better defense than that.

IMO I think the referee sucked and the commentators as well, I don't think the fight was as close as they made it sound like. Those points deductions were horrible. Referee stepped in way too much.

Don't know if you guys have heard of ProBox TV but they're a new streaming service that is dirt cheal ($18/year) and promises 2 fight cards a month.

Don't know how they're going to make that work with decent fights but the first one is pretty good. Lucas Browne and Jarell Miller are not household names but they're top 15 heavyweights and held a couple Regular belts at some point, and they also have Jono Caroll as the co-main.

So this has been the awesomest boxing weekend ever. I got to meet Stitch Duran, Joe Joyce, Chris Eubank Jr, and Jermell Charlo.

Had to shop myself out to avoid the face doxx
