Holy ****, I was personally ready to nix the entire idea of sprint races and this one comes around and completely redeems itself. Hopefully tomorrow has the same drama and action.

I haven't seen too much McLaren discussion here. What's y'all's opinion on their newfound (semi) resurgence. Have they made improvements on their entire ****box of a car this stage through the season or do they happen to have one of the better drivers on the grid in Norris and one of the better young guys in Piastri? It's probably a combo of both, but I think Norris is truly getting everything out of that car right now.

I think it's like Mercedes in Spain. There were upgrades on Norris' car. He went very fast. Norris also just goes very fast at the Red Bull Ring no matter what. We will see at Silverstone.

I noticed this today, F3 didn't have it, and they were only displaying the data for Vesti and Pourchaire (current title contenders). Hopefully the plan is to bring it to F1 in the future.. would be cool to see their heart rates when something sketchy happens on track

That would be really cool to see. I'd love to see Max clocking a steady 58bpm as he trundles off into the distance.

Early safety car due to Tsunoda getting beached. Everyone stays in though.

3 stop for Ferrari?? Dummy radio call from them? Seems like a a podium losing strategy.

Can't decide if this race should be renamed "Track Limits GP of Austria" or "STFU and Drive GP"

Red Bull flexing their dominance with a pit for Max for softs for fastest lap with two laps to go

Is it just me or are the cars more reliable this year? It seems like there have been a lot fewer retirements due to mechanical issues than previous seasons. The only way Max loses a race this year is if he doesn't finish which I thought would be a given at some point, but I'm starting to question that assumption.

Edit: not sure where that stupid emoji came from

No. They are releasing updated time penalties now.

From Twitter accounts (some penalties served during pit stops):

Sainz - 10 seconds
Hamilton - 10 seconds
Gasly - 10 seconds
Albon - 10 seconds
Ocon - 30 seconds
Sargeant - 10 seconds
De Vries - 15 seconds
Tsunoda - 5 seconds

Biggest moves there means Sainz down to P6, Norris up to P4 and Alonso P5. Hamilton down to P8 behind Russell, Gasly down to P10 behind Stroll.

Amended results:

1. Verstappen
2. Leclerc
3. Perez
4. Norris
5. Alonso
6. Sainz
7. Russell
8. Hamilton
9. Stroll
10. Gasly

So looks like a win win for AM, both drivers gained a spot.

This track is so fun, because it provides a lot of opportunities for overtaking.

Updated per F1 site:

Red Bull - 377
Mercedes - 178
Aston Martin - 175 (+3)
Ferrari - 154 (-4)
Alpine - 47 (-1)
McLaren - 29 (+2)
Haas - 11
Alfa Romeo - 9
Williams - 7
Alpha Tauri - 2

So Aston Martin had the clear motive here and the most positive result. Mercedes just swapped spots so no effect. Ferrari took a big hit from the Sainz penalties.

Yes. Pitt and his young driver costar have their names over a garage for the whole weekend.

I really hope China is "back". Otherwise we are looking at another month break right after the start of the season.
