I would be shocked if we see Benn for game four and beyond, this playoffs. I think he burned some bridges tonight with guys on this team.

He won't be in 4 or 5 -and maybe not 6 or 7 bc he's getting suspended

Of all the games I've seen at the AAC and Reunion, this was the worst/most disappointing. And I've seen some doozys.

The goaltender not showing up, the mistakes by the team in front of him, the captain going braindead, the idiot fans, and a guy two sections over getting hit in the head by a puck and needing medical attention. Very surreal and empty feeling most of the game and afterwards tonight.

But tomorrow is a new day. I'm going to bed.

That made it to the conference final....

And then went out like punks.

This team acted like the series was over after coming back 0-2 instead of focusing on defending home ice and going back tied up.

I doubt he has burned any bridges with his teammates. Obviously none of them will be happy, but he has every other moment of their career with him to offset it.
However, I have a sad feeling this might affect how fans view him greatly...even after they calm down. Hard to say I blame them , whole thing sucks

It's going to be a monumental achievement to win one or two games now.
Ill wait to have any real hope if we get to that point

It doesn't help that he's had some pretty major failures in big playoff games in the past. 2019 against the blues comes to mind.

In the past it was not executing, but tonight was just embarrassing from Benn.

Thank you for your interest in hockey. With this being your first game, I'll let you know, that's kind of how hockey goes sometimes. It's the most difficult sport to win the championship.

Last year Edmonton got smoked 4-0 in the WCF by Colorado.
The year before Vegas was knocked out of the WCF by the playoff lowest seeded Montreal in 6.
The year before, the Stars, a team most had written off as completely done with how poorly they played coming back from COVID, embarrassed Vegas 4-1 in the WCF.
That's hockey.
That being said, it isn't over yet. We all know the odds are pretty extraordinary to see a series comeback by Dallas, but the team is probably made up of people with significantly stronger resolve than you.

After a physically punishing series with Minnesota we went 7 games with more physical than expected Seattle. Then played 2 OT games that ended in a bad way. Then saw a goal, an ejection, and a 5 minute penalty kill immediately at the start of this one. Combine that with our goalie having the worst night of his career and you get the result we saw. They know that, and everyone involved is trying to develop a plan to extend this series, one game at a time.

If you don't like that, then don't watch the next one.

I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said, but can't recall a more nightmarish game across any of our DFW teams in recent memory given the way everything transpired. The Benn hit and ejection, Otter's performance, the team absolutely cratering, the penalties, Daddy's injury, the fans throwing sh*t on the ice, all during the most important game of the season. The way this postseason played out put the Stars in excellent position and we end up completely unraveling. Just awful.

I want to say this is up there with Rangers game 6 but at least the Rangers were competitive in that game. Really, really tough night for Stars fans.

I am just SO disappointed in Benn and the players. They laid down last night and took it, and this has been a theme for us the whole playoffs now. We do not respond well to adversity, as evidenced by the amount of times we have been scored on in bunches, in less than five minute spans. Then the games are over. We don't even give ourselves a chance to come back because we lose all composure for stretches and get boat raced. Idk where the mental and physical toughness went with this team, but it's been gone for a bit now.

Question: General opinion here on Deboer and staff considering the season, where it currently stands, and his prior gigs as it relates to where the Stars are as of this moment?

We talk of on-ice performance, which is lacking this series, and was an issue during the regular season with a relatively high volume of OT losses, which has also been occurring during these playoffs. My opinion is Deboer and staff's approach is not working at the crucial times, and just want to know other opinions here.

Do you consider this season a wash as it is Deboer's first with the org, and he had little to no say on current player recruitment and strategy? Do his prior stops give anyone here reason to pause or not expect a championship while he is coach?

I think having 1 superstar defenseman and a bunch of spares has been exposed in the playoffs. I have a hard time blaming coaching for anything except maybe overplaying Otter.

I couldn't agree more. If anything, DeBoer has overachieved this year with a roster that is ill-fit to play the style of hockey he wants to play. I don't put this on coaching at all except overplaying otter, which they had to do.

Next year we will have 3 young first round defenceman in the lineup in Miro, Lundquist and Harley all year( barring injuries) . I'm sure NiLL will add a solid 4th during the summer. I've been a fan since 94 and even the Cup team had to be built in a couple of years by adding guys. I trust Nill will fix the defence.

We too were at the game and it's the worst game I've ever attended in person. When Benn got tossed, the atmosphere went toxic. When Ot shrugged goal 3 in, we still had to sit thru 2 more periods of painful confusion and we couldn't leave after forking out 300 bucks for tickets.

The Ticket 1310, in DFW defended Benn by saying he was trying to rally the team, but he's just too experienced to think a dirty play will rally anybody except the team they are playing.

My take is that Vegas is out playing the stars at their own game and the stars have no idea what to do.

There was a slew foot really close to when Domi went berserk, I think on Seguin. The officiating felt very one sided on top of a terrible game performance. I watched a guy two-foot trip Marchment in front of the ref on a face off that wasn't called. The cross checking and high hits on the boards, many with elbows, went uncalled. They even called Miro for interference on a perfectly clean hit.

Vegas was allowed to play playoff style hockey and the Stars were called like a regular season game.

Pete did well this year and I'm interested to see what he does going forward, but he should absolutely get some heat for never fixing the overtime issue. We were atrocious all year and it really cost us. We could have had home ice advantage over Vegas, which might have changed things.

I don't know how many coaches and goaltenders and surrounding cast members Dallas has to go through before they figure out that Benn/Seguin/Nill are the problem

I think DeBoer deserves some criticism for the atrocity that is the Stars in OT, especially during the regular season. Things like strategy are on him and the coaching staff, but the players still have to perform on the ice, and this is a bigger issue imo. Regular season OT lends itself to teams that are fast, free, and skilled because there's more open ice. We don't have a lot of that outside of Miro, Hintz, Wyatt and until recently Harley, and when he was playing Lundkvist. So I agree that DeBoer should've better planned around our lack of speed, skill and d men, but the players he was dealt don't help at all when your roster isn't geared towards what Ot is all about.

And there's the 2 gamer for Benn.

I agree, players still need to play well, but I didn't really see him make too many adjustments. And if it was just about skill players, you'd think our style would play well in playoff OTs and we lost all 4 of those. So it's more than just 'players need to do better'

Dadonov is out for tomorrow and Otter will be back in the net.

I wonder who will join the forward group. Olofsson or someone up from the Texas Stars.

Ottenger has not been good this playoff. Our bottom 4 defensemen are subpar. Robertson has played timid. That isn't going to win a lot of championships in hockey.

I think we should be playing Lundkvist. Who cares if he hasn't played in over a month. You're down 3-0, going to lose the series and with zero pressure. Let him have some playoff experience.
